He was really excited to return as Truman, and even spent hundreds of hours in search of his old jacket, and finally reached out to me to help find it. We found a suitable replica. I bought it and sent it to him. We last spoke in August and he informed me he wasn’t going to Washington after all. I told him I was heartbroken to hear that.

I actually enjoy the archetypal teenage romance of James and Donna. Both played the whispy silent acting of love and the turbulations of their relationship incredibly well, and made for a very intimate and unique tonal shift (in the show) whenever it was their time to shine. Some of the best scenes in the entire show

>>81853231

>>81853042
I guess I prefer the fan edit because it creates one cohesive piece that I find enhances the film, even with some extraneous bits. Some of the deleted scenes flesh things out better, while others are basically unnecessary fan service.
The dinner scene where the Palmers try to speak Norwegian, the scene where Donna's parents show up, the bit at Bobby's locker, and the extended version of Laura visiting Bobby probably should've been in the movie. The extended Deer Meadow stuff, Laura and the trucker, and some of the other bits are not really necessary, but I feel like they add to the movie a bit. A couple of bits, namely Josie and Pete talking about wood and the police station scene on the final night probably should be gone.
>>81853231

>>81853446
To each their own. Ideally, I'd like a version with most but not all of the extended bits. While it's good that the deleted scenes were released, separating them into the Missing Pieces and losing their context detracts from them in my eyes.

I don't know, I really enjoy MP on its own.
The problem I have with the fan edit is not in the scenes that are included, it's mainly the editing that gets me, mostly in that one particular scene. It also really pisses me off how much time in the intro credits is devoted to advertising their stupid fan edit websites, as if it's relevant to the film. I know it's a little thing, but it really left a sour taste in my mouth before the film had even started.
>>81840113
Just finished watching the series for the first time yesterday in preparation of the new season. Can't imagine how mad people were for a cliffhanger ending for over 25 years. The fact that Laura Palmer says "I'll see you in 25 years" calls for Lynch being the real ABSOLUTE MADMAN, and the coincidence that the show has been off the air for a little over 25 IRL years makes it absolute kino.

She was best in season 1 but yeah this love triangle sullied her a bit for me.
I always rationalized it that she and Andy were dumb.
>>81853903
I think the visual style adds much to the atmosphere of IE.
>>81853375
If it doesn't get you by like 3 episodes it probably isn't your thing. Coop and Harry are my favorite like buddy cop duo.
>>81853903
he filmed it on a consumer grade camcorder, it's meant to look like that I guess
>>81853903
>this scene looked like something a film student would produce.
He literally filmed the entire thing with a handheld standard definition consumer camera. For some reason.
>>81853945
Bob is starting to spill out, you can see his white hair is starting to show.
>yfw Lynch is so fucking genius that he summoned Bob from the Black Lodge and had him possess her for 25 years in preparation for this role.
Genius.
>yfw Andy was ripped as fuck under the uniform
Does anybody have any pictures of him around that time without a shirt? You can tell he was fucking ripped under that shirt.
>>81854043

>>81854043
I always try my hardest to imagine andy and lucy having sex but my brain overheats
>>81854108
I bet it's the cutest thing ever
>>81854108
Andy's an absolute animal in bed. Goaz's twitter picture is Andy's face when.
My main concern right now has nothing to do with the writing, but I'm getting the idea that season 3 is going to look like shit.
We all know the philosophy Lynch took on with Inland Empire and while this is obviously not that, he's using digital (HD) cameras for convenience, the guy shot and directed 18 episodes over a fairly short period of time, I don't imagine any shoot was particularly rigorous. Doesn't seem like refinement has any time and place in this production.
I mean what do you imagine a process like this looking like in the end? Has anybody ever heard of a single individual directing 18 consecutive episodes of a drama? How?
This is going to be 18 loosely connected vignettes, is my feeling, and it'll look off-putting, all your other favorite show, even the original run of Twin Peaks will look better.
>>81841553
COOP I'M TELLING YA, THESE PEOPLE ON /TV/ DON'T APPRECIATE BEAUTY. THEY COULDN'T KNOW BEAUTY IF IT HIT THEM IN THE FACE.
COOP, DID I EVER TELL YA ABOUT THIS GIRL I MET AT THE RR DINER? SHE WAS BEAUTIFUL AND SHE MADE THE BEST COFFEE AND PIE YOU'VE EVER HAD. YA GOTTA COME DOWN WITH ME AND HAVE A SLICE, COOP I'M TELLING YA.
>>81854194
>This is going to be 18 loosely connected vignettes
No. He shot it like an 18-hour film. If anything, they might not be properly divided.
>>81854194
This is his baby, and Frost's baby.
It'll be great.
>>81854194
>This is going to be 18 loosely connected vignettes
Lynch insisted on calling them "parts" and not "episodes", trying to equate it to one cohesive film basically. I'm not too worried. Fire Walk With Me was shot really quickly.
>>81842280
>thought she was a turbo slut because she was literally dripping for Cooper's dick
>turns out it was just hormones and she was a virgin
I bet she could suck mad dick though.
>>81854194
18 HOUR MOVIE
He fought for that time too, he has a story to tell.
>>81854238
>>81854260
Lynch has said that, but he has also said that you might be able to watch it out of order entirely.
What does that tell you about any kind of tangible narrative?
>>81854368
No, he hasn't. Don't start rumors.
You're reading too much into a typically Lynchian throwaway line.
>>81852903
Yeah, same here, the scene where James goes off on his motorcycle in an act of escapism after Maddie dies always gets me. Although I can't defend what follows that.
>>81854368
Citation?
Also, have you seen this man speak?
>>81847739
Too bad they're gonna be recasting that bird, heard it died before production :'(

>Similarly, in these days of binging and streaming, he is O.K. with however you want to watch it. He even suggests, with a smile, that the best approach may be to view the parts out of order. “You know, the projectionist once in awhile would make a mistake and put reel four before reel two or something,” he says. “People still made sense of it.”
>>81854194
eh and you'll watch it anyway even if its 18 hours of an out of focus paper plate with diarhea splatters and several turds
>>81854500
Yes, I know. Didn't you read my post?
>>81846352
Homosex.
Can we all at least agree that Fire Walk With Me has a better soundtrack than the show?
I didn't think it was possible to beat the main theme of the show, but the films main theme does, it's fucking better, it is.. It's so good.
>>81842288
>recognizing FWWM as the masterpiece it is
>recognizing the genius of season 2

only thing i'd change is the Finale over the Pilot, though the pilot might be one of the greatest pilots ever
other than that you sir are a man with great taste

Mark my words, anons. When you're finished with that massive 4 hour premiere (2 hour tv premiere, 2 more episodes released online) you're gonna be scratching your heads over here, because very little is going to make sense.
>>81854681
Good.
>>81852025
it's ok but contradicts the show in multiple places, so I doubt it's any relevant to the overall storyline
All the novels do, really it's best to only consider the show and fwwm canon
Who is making a big pot of black coffee and buying a cherry pie for the premiere? I know I am.

I have a question. So who was Diane anyways? Cooper's assistant? I don't think he was that high up in the FBI to have his own secretary or something. Also does he send the tapes over by overnight mail or something? Is Diane even real?
>>81854681
Perfect.
>>81850029
uh, no it isn't
>>81854539
The Pink Room is the best thing Badalamenti wrote, period.
>>81854752
Secret History is by Mark Frost though, so that gives it some legitimacy. I've heard that the inconsistencies with the series are there on purpose, hinting that someone had tampered with the dossier. Can't be arsed to read it though.
>>81850029
Windom Earle, anon. Also, it's a fan made poster, innit?
It is...
>>81854793
Underrated theme from show coming through
https://youtu.be/WuzYfUz5dNM
I believe it was only ever used in the series finale, and the studio version didn't make it onto any official soundtracks, wasn't until Angelo released the massive Twin Peaks Archive that it came to light.
>>81854822
I always wondered what he did with the tapes. He mentioned being sent earplugs after requesting them on tape so he must be getting the messages there somehow. I'm guessing he just listens to his tapes to remind him of stuff and then phones Diane.
>"I don't want to be type cast as that character"
>*comes back 25 years later to play the same character*
what did he mean by this?
>>81854822
good question anon
>>81854939
He grew older and realized what an impact he's left on the world.
>>81847739
Whenever i see the intro i remember the 90's and me watching Twin Peaks during a fall overcast day back in 1995. So hopefully they will keep it.
>>81854822
That would be a serious twist.what if Laura Dern is Diane
>>81854893
Really great piece of music. I always thought it was good that the finale has its own signature piece of music - gave the episode a unique foreboding atmosphere. Turns out it was also used in the log lady intros though.
>>81854939
25 years passed. He went on to play other roles and didn't just let Cooper define him for his entire career.
what /tv/ thinks about him?
>>81855018
It definitely did, something I noticed right off the bat the first time I saw that episode. Obviously it being the finale, there is that sense of "finality" to it, but the change in music really helped sell that, it's the same town but everything felt different.
>>81854939
You should look up what "type cast" means, redifriend.
>>81855215
Benevolent Chad.
>>81855215
non-character not worth thinking or talking about. Contributed nothing to the show.
He felt like a soap opera character thrust into the world of Twin Peaks, but where the other characters are multifaceted and subvert the expected, he really just was a surface level soap character. I feel the same way about the season 2 bad guy, forgot his name, evil dress up in outfit man.
>>81855282
youre right, windom earl was pretty creepy but felt like a lackluster villain in comparison to bob.
>>81855232
it doesn't matter what I think type cast means.
Will Cooper have a new digital voice recorder or will be stick to micro cassettes for that old school vibe? Cooper is a man of habit, I wouldn't be surprised if he was still using a tape recorder in the digital age.
>>81854793
>it took them literally 20 years to finally release Deer Meadow Shuffle
worth it.

>>81855378
He will record vlogs and upload them to youtube and also take daily selfies to put on Instagram with his Iphone 7.
>>81854861
nah that's some bullshit he made up because he couldn't be arsed to rewatch the show.
Some stuff may be on porpouse, but stuff like the ed/nadine/norma/hank backstory is completely off and why would anyone alter the lives of random twin peaks citizens, let alone that being a plot point?
It's still a decent read regardless but I don't think it's going to have any impact on anything going on in the show
>>81855215
Basically what this anon said>>81855282
I would also add that his existence, like Annie's, is to patch together the show after Audrey/Coop was nixed. He exists to give Audrey something to do, and then defiled her before leaving forever. Whereas Annie was tolerable, I fucking hate Billy Zane's character. I ignore all of the scenes with him.
>>81853659
>Can't imagine how mad people were for a cliffhanger ending for over 25 years.
I'm one of them, AMA lmaoo kys
>>81855215
I think his looks and mannerisms are right at home in Twin Peaks and he could have been a good character, but he ended up being very thin and having no real personality at all.
That and the fact that he prevented Audrey/Cooper from happening.
>>81855282
>I feel the same way about the season 2 bad guy, forgot his name, evil dress up in outfit man.
Windom Earle, yes. He was basically a fucking cartoon character with all his shitty disguises, complete lack of a reasonable motive, and the actor's performance in general. It was also stupid to give a young, optimistic character like Coop a dark, edgy backstory.
>>81854198

He was garbage in most of his appearances, but he had some good moments where he actually managed to come off as insane and not lolsorandom. And they were corny, but I really enjoyed his disguises - the scene in the R&R where he and Cooper are both there comes to mind.
