I want to see a Grand Theft Auto film franchise with awesome directors, building a world like Fargo but using big cities. Quirky Black Comedy Crime franchise.
First film is set in New York City with three leads, all criminals who have basically fucked their lives up and has it's parody/comedic undertones of American culture. It'd be the opposite of Marvel Film Universe, this would be it's antithesis, funny, bloody, good story telling with original storylines directed by the Coens

>Samuel L. Jackson as an OG who's at war with his protege (Michael B. Jordan). >Gambetti don is a balding, old Al Pacino who goes into history about a legendary mobster, one of the Families sent down to Miami after getting out of prison to get whacked but built his own operation in six days then came back and took out a whole family. We see it's a fat Christian Bale with a mustache.
Second is set in Miami in the 1980s and is directed by Nicolas Winding Refn

I'm kind of a stickler about keeping vidya and movies separate even though I love GTA.

So, as they go to whack Pacino - who Hill is working for. Pacino talks up the legendary mobster, who comes out, built as fuck like 6'2 and 240lbs (fat-muscle) and is like the fucking terminator. Takes a few gunshots, shrugs that shit off and is sort of like the Italian version of the Iceman. All three of them have to take him, they stick an icepick in his head, he still manages to choke-out Jonahl Hill even though his speech is fucked and he goes blind. Shoots Jackson in the balls then takes a shotgun blast to the chest. It puts him down, and he is saying his dying words but his speech is fucked and he sounds like a baby. Based Bale. Then we see a whole film about him in the sequel/prequel.
And then the next film is about his rise.

Yes, we know it's a game but having an awesome black comedy-crime genre franchise would bring in the $$$.

Jackson helped Michael B. Jordan and schooled him in 2002 when he was 14, now Jordan's character has a $2 mil penthouse and Jackson aint got shit and gotta live with his momma.

Fassbender is a Russian who ends up shooting a guy higher up than him by accident and goes into hiding. Heavy smoker. Leather jackets. Speaks mostly Ruski (subtitled) or broken English.
Franchise can keep going with a London GTA film directed by Guy Ritchie, everything is tied to everything, all set in the same universe just stories about crims who get into shit.

I don't think it would be as good as Coen-produced quirky, big city universe. We have seen Coen's quirky crime visions for small towns and places, but doing New York would be like Serpico with a mix of Seinfeld, if Seinfeld were killers and mobsters.
It'd be great then to have great directors come in to do their own cities will keeping the spirit alive would be a good adult franchise which are both intelligent and more of a social commentary on "why people become mobsters", it could even begin with a small Jonah Hill watching GoodFellas with the scene where they stab Billy Batts in the trunk and a voice over, "As far back as I remember, onced I saw GoodFellas... I've always wanted to be a gangster." then cut to him now as a fat 30 year-old mobster with a track suit who's trying to get "made", he does deals regularly with a Russian immigrant (Fassbender) who is more straight-laced and doesn't understand American humour and when both get into the shit, only to find out that someone wanted both of them killed... Then they get their revenge along with Jackson's OG character. It's about the losers of the criminal underworld becoming winners or the top guys. Bale's cameo at the end as like the final boss or the Terminator, it would just be a quirky take with authentic performances in a grounded criminal underworld (just those quirks would be shown more than often).
The end of every film has to end with them stealing a car while the protagonists back and forth their voice over like in Goodfellas or Casino.
It's money, baby.
