Cyberpunk dates from when the US thought the Japanese were going to become the worlds dominant economic power.

Seems a bit funny now we know they are trapped in a (literal and figurative) death spiral and really leaders in tech the way they seemd in the 80s.

Also odd this stands out so much given Cyberpunk always aspires to a post-nation state feel at the same time.

Should 2017 cyberpunk have an Indian aesthetic and a Bollywood soundtrack?
