I'm on episode 14 (the first chapter) of the Avatar: The Last Airbender. I'm not crazy about the main character. I feel like the story could turn a corner and become more interesting.
I see this series talked about in a positive light on /tv/. So I feel I should stick with it. I am on episode 14 but maybe it starts slow? Or is the story pretty much at maximum "happening"?FYI, I don't have patrician tastes. I enjoyed Bleach/Naruto/Justice League. I don't mean to talk down to others who like this show. I just don't feel as into it as I think I should be.
Should I stick with it?

Yeah, it does pick up. Although if you didn't like The Blue Spirit there might not be any hope for you.
Seasons 2 and 3 are better than Season 1.

Seasons 2 is godlike. Season 3 has some meh episodes but finale is god tier

it picks up when they get to the North. I personally liked the slow, world building early episodes with the exception of the episode where they have to guide these two warring factions across a valley, and they got attacked by monster ants.
if I have to compare it to anime, it's like Bleach where the first 20 or so episodes are just character and world building, then it gets to the SS stuff. ATLA also gets to that point where it's maximum HAPPENING. the season ending is pretty satisfying.

Definitely, especially when he starts tapping into his fire powers. book 3 is my favorite. Korra was great too. Direct tie in so a lot of callbacks. Really hope a studio sees its potential after shamacucks disaster.
