Immortan already did more for his community than any other that's been shown in MM, all he wanted was a good heir of his own flesh and blood.

Despite being intelligent, capable and physically strong, Immortan Joe allowed his ego to overrule common sense, ultimately wasting the valuable and limited resources at his disposal and damning whatever was left of humanity in the region he controlled to anarchy and savagery.

Clearly genetically damaged, as evidenced by his radiation ravaged body and the defective children he continued to produce, Immortan Joe should have instead gathered up physically and mentally superior men (such as Max) into a kinda male harem and breed them with the physically and mentally superior female harem he already had at his disposal, producing intelligent, capable and physically strong descendants who he would then have raised as his own “sons” to succeed him, insuring not only his own legacy but possibly starting humanity back on the path to civilization.

But because he could only think about himself, he ended up getting himself killed and losing control of the Citadel and it’s irreplaceable resources, which were immediately squandered by Charlize Theron on the hordes of useless, irradiated and genetically damaged savages surrounding the Citadel who could provide nothing in return.

I would guess that within a month of two of Immortan Joe’s death, the Citadel and everything around it would have been a ruin and everybody would be dead, as there simply wasn’t enough water, food, vehicles, fuel, ammo, etc. to keep all those useless people alive.
