Now that the dust has settled, what does /tv/ think of The Dark Knight Rises' opening plane scene?
Bane?
Let's do the plane scene word by word to keep the thread bumped. I'll start.

why is so weirdly executed
Now that the dust has settled I'll admit I didn't think it was so bad that it stood out against the shit which was the rest of the movie.

It's one of the dullest of scenes, each take following the adventures of CIA his men from Mayer Craft as they fight hired guns has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the ass shots, the scene's only consistency has been its lack of coherence and ineffective use of practical effects — all to make flights landed, to make action seem inert...
Perhaps the die was cast when Kane vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; he made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody — just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for his comic books. (Sadly, Stan Lee and Marvel's producers seem to be following this model.) The plane scene might be anti-maskettas (or not), but it's certainly the anti-Big Guys series in its refusal of painfulness, bigness and loyalty. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.
