Why are these terrible movies so popular?
>>81773967
I can understand why people like them, I dont understand how they smash the box office. I think I saw the first one once when it came out, tokyo drift, and ignored the franchise until the last one.
I just dont get it.
>>81773967
They should like crap like Star Wars and capeshit?
>>81773967
It's carkino you pleb
>>81774170
why are people so retarded about this scene? they're not supposed to be standing right in front of each other
>>81774211
People? Do you mean Vin Diesel? Diesel made them CGI him bigger so he wouldn't look smaller than the Rock.
>>81774211
Yes, they are, you imbecile.
The characters are meant to be staring eachother down, face-to-face; but since Vin is a manlet, they had to fuck with the angle to make him appear as tall as Dwayne.
I will never understand why people make excuses for such a poorly-shot scene,
>>81773967
>reee I dont like these movies I want more star wars and capeshit
>>81774211
People are retarded with 2d perspective
As a graphic designer I've seen this shit a lot
>If you don't like this awful shit you must like starwars or capeshit
that isn't how it works anons, they're all equally shit. I mean how many fucking cuts do you need for a 6 second clip

A lot of people ignored the franchise until part 5 when The Rock joined the cast. After that it dropped the street racing angle and became an enjoyable big budget action series featuring fast cars.

Other anon here. First of all, people are NOT making excuses; the movie is an abomination and I couldn't care less about anything related to it. BUT I've watched that scene and everything about it makes me think that they're supposed to stand next to each other (shoulder to shoulder), doing the "manly teasing while staring straight ahead" thing. If anything, the awkward angle was chosen because it DOES conceal Vin's height a little, but that's it. Unless you have some director's commentary or official quote that says otherwise, YOU are the imbecile.

They scratch that 80/90s cheesy action flick itch. The plot of the first Fast movie was simply Point Break but with street racing.

woah
foreign plebs
>>81774889
You'd think so but the domestic box office for the Fast movies is massive. Same with Transformers. It's not just the Chinese watching these movies.
I enjoy them because my boss gets hyped for them and makes everyone at the office see it with him. He sits there in the theater cheering like a child. It's a great time.
>>81774477
>implying these movies aren't capeshit at this point
>>81773967
>Why are these terrible movies so popular?
They are the new Looney Tunes movies
>>81775002
>It's a great time
Exactly. /tv/ is filled with a bunch of dopey 19 year olds trying to show how adult and refined their tastes in film are. They'll grow out of it.
>>81773967
the accepted story now is that they are superhuman and dont know it, right?
>>81775120
>it's awful but it's a good time!
anon there are plenty of flicks out there that are dumb fun, these films are just bad. They aren't a good time.

They're certainly far from awful. They're competently made big budget action flicks. Personally I prefer this kind of stuff over "realistic" action movies like Bourne but I get why some people don't.
>>81775136
Pretty much. Ludacris went from being the guy that waved flags to start the races to their computer hacking specialist. The way they completely rewrote the characters starting from 5 onward is pretty great.
>>81774021
The movie made $190 million in China alone, that's almost twice the US box-office
It's probably the "muh family" theme that reasonates well with Chinese collectivist culture.

Also, it's pretty hilarious how Tyrese went from hardened criminal in 2 Fast 2 Furious to comic relief that just seems happy to be there.
