Not seen it but I remember Ben WHeatley talking about how Free Fire is supposed to be a more realistic look at action movies. He got reading an FBI report of a shootout:
>Free Fire was prompted in part by an FBI report of a Miami shootout. It detailed the ineptitude and the carnage; the bozos who kept missing, even at point-blank range.
Apparently the whole thing lasted 45 minutes. He was interested by the way that people, highly-trained people, just kept shooting and missing. And also that in cinema, a gun is often just a death-ray, but in real life, depending on where you're shot, you can take anywhere from a few minutes to days to die

U wot m8?

It'd be neat to have a movie where someone's forced to reload a mag, though. Like, maybe juxtapose it with someone using a revolver or shotgun reloading faster once the mags are out. The only ones I can think of are movies where someone who can't shot is tasked with reloading, but even then most of the time the movie is set in the past with muzzleloaders.

I'd also love it if games took that shit into account, with the choice between a revolver and handgun coming down to inventory space and whether you can find enough magazines to make it worth it.

Does anybody else remember that old video of some wannabe-cops doing room-clearing training in the desert in a similar way to that video of Keanu training, except they kept almost blowing eachother's heads off because they didn't know when to move? I've been trying to find it for ages but my googling skill just isn't good enough. These were people paying to be trained and shit and the video was meant to be a commercial for it I think, and they were incredibly worse at shooting than Keanu.

I think it was the same people who had a bunch of videos where they showed off their training that involved walking around on beams in a garage or some shit.

When I was 22 years old I was in USMC TBS, basically a school for Marine lieutenants. They put on these cop scenarios on the projector screen and gave us this fake gun that shoots blanks to see how we react (for MP training). In my video, there was a scene where a man and a woman exit a car and then man starts to act hostile so my on screen partner beats him with a nightstick. Then a woman gets upset and begins to reach for something in her purse. I unloaded the entire mag into that bitch in 2 seconds flat. I dont give a fuck. I'd rather get demoted than risk getting shot. Pretty sure I would have reacted the same way IRL. Like Animal Mother said "better you than me"
>>
>>81763544
>It'd be neat to have a movie where someone's forced to reload a mag, though

When would that ever really happen outside of a siege like setting? That's why you see it in old west films where the women reload the repeater rifles but that's about it. It's not like a random bank robber carries 5 mags and then a pocket full of loose rounds too just in case.

but lets be honest here, it would be boring as hell to see in a film
>pew pew pew pew
>pew pew pew
>slowly remove magazine
>reach into your supply of pocket bullets
>drop a few on the ground
>slowly load in 12-15 rounds

why do that in a film? If you want a tension filled reload scene like in say Dusk til Dawn you just have them use a huge revolver and fumble for rounds.
>>
>>81764497
I was once at a gun club that had a similar scenario-training system that I got to try.
>The drunk native in an alley trying to open a random door who mumbles at you and then suddenly pulls a gun from his coat
>Random chick you've just pulled over acting normal then pulls a .22 out of her purse
It seems hilariously retarded when you're doing it, but most shootings do happen under those type of circumstances.
Same though, I just magdumped the minute they quickly reach for something. Any reasonable person would conclude they might be going for a weapon.
>>
>>81758040
it's not in the movie tho
>>
>>81764583
I was mostly thinking of how it should have come up in one of the countless zombie movies/TWD, so basically in the siege setting. But yeah, it's easier to just do it with a revolver and fumbling for rounds. I just wish we'd get movies where people don't have infinite magazines in situations where it makes no sense.
>>
>>81764702
Dude in the early version they totally kept the scene in! It was only in later editions that they edited it! My friend totally saw the original in the cinema!

I've come across multiple people who genuinely believe the scene is still in the movie.

>>
>>81764941
>>81765018
If I was in that situation I'm not sure if I could bring myself to destroy it without making a copy.

I'd never release it to the public or anything sleazy like that, I'd probably never even view it, but I'd have a hard time not to preserve it. Like, maybe I'd pass it down in the family and then in two or three generations when it's considered history they could release it and it'd be like finding a recording of Lincoln's assassination or the JFK tape or something. A recording of history.
>>
>>81765101
Every recording is a recording of history
>>
>>81765121
Nah, there's nothing historical about some actor shooting a gun like a thousand other actors have done in a thousand other movies. It's not genuine and it's got no historical value.

But an actor dying and having it recorded? That's history.
>>

How do you deal with watching something like the mexican torture videos when you think that someone being shot in each limb is the most horrific thing? That's a stroll in the park compared to what a lot of people (and animals) have to go through.

>boring
He's a professional soldier. Calling it boring is like watching a professional chef some high-end cuisine and calling it boring because you prefer watching some Benihana faggot catch a shrimp with his hat.

>luck
he gets shot in the fucking throat by a child after killing a dozen violent men

>enemies are retarded
have you ever met a high-melanin individual who lives in public housing, is a member of a gang, and earns his money by selling drugs and stealing from prostitutes? If so, did he strike you as a person of high intelligence?

>people die instantly
movies don't exagerate this as much as people think. The scarface meme of taking a bunch of bullets to the chest and continuing to function isn't impossible, but its not all that common either. People who take a rifle round to the chest do tend go down pretty quickly. Very few people would continue to put up much of a fight after taking two shots to the chest. He shoots twice at everyone and it is implied that he is a very accurate shot.

>no blood
There is pink blood mist visible in the sunlight during the outdoor part. Puddles of blood in other places. OP asked for realistic guns, not best squibs. Real bullet wounds don't instantly squirt blood everywhere, rather there is a fine initial blood spray, really small droplets of pulverized flesh and possibly bone. After that blood will start coming out, but even in the worst wounds it won't reach puddle proportions for at least 20 seconds or so.

I like the scene in Death Wish 1 where Kersey has to throw up after shooting a mugger. You can really see the shock, the tension and maybe regret in the eyes of Paul, as his victim is squirming on the ground.

>He's a professional soldier
He doesn't seem professional. Acts pretty retarded and puts his life at unnecessary risk several times. There is nothing about it that makes me think this character is smart and know what he is doing.

>he gets shot in the fucking throat by a child
Hmm, yes, dozens of men can't hit him but a child manages. Very realistic.

>movies don't exagerate this as much as people think
It varies, but all of them just die straight away, like a video game.
And I'm not saying they should keep up a fight always, but at least some struggling on the ground. Details, be creative, do something more. Not just pew pew die die, with no music and slow cuts to mimic realism.

>but even in the worst wounds it won't reach puddle proportions for at least 20 seconds or so.
You dont know what your talking about. Hit a large blood vessel and blood will be present instantly.

Stop defending this boring piece of shit. There is nothing realistic about it. It's as generic as it gets.
>>
>>81772452
>soldiers getting shot
ghetto bangers don't typically wear body armor. Getting shot in the shoulder and continuing to use that arm is a fucking meme. When a script says "shot in the shoulder" that's just thinly veiled plot armor.

>they still move
That depends, more than anything, on shot placement. An inexperienced combatant (i.e. hood nigga) will spray bullets. In contrast, an elite soldier will be working systematically and reflexively to kill people.

Damn that's a great one have you seen the way of the gun. The writer's bro in law was a Navy seal & diagramed the shootouts. Probably not the wasting of all the Galil ammo lol
>>
>>81773043
The entire movie was basically written just to facilitate the shootouts.
>>
There's a really good one in a korean movie about hitmen
It's one guy who defects trying to save this lady who's the mother of a kid he shot
and he goes into the apartment where the FBI or whatever are keeping her and there's some really fantastic shooting
What I really love about it is how most of the people don't die when he stabs them near the start, they stay there screaming and bleeding and writhing around so everything gets totally coated in blood slowly and realisticly
If it helps the guy who plays shane in twd is one of the hitmen
I really wish I could remember the fucking name of the movie now
>>
>>81772995
>he is not right in the head and a bit suicidal
What do you mean? I never called him professional.

>I was responding to the criticism that he was too lucky
Sure, but he was lucky many times until that point. Can still say he was lucky.

>how many gunshot wounds have you treated?
None? But if you know how strong the pressure is in your main veins, you would now how fast blood can come out.

Anyway, it's more of a production thing as doing real blood effects adds extra costs.
>>
>>81758822

>real blood effects
This is like saying "we used actors to play the ninjas because we couldn't afford real ninjas"

Have you ever noticed that "Is that real?" is probably the most common normie response to obvious RL gore? Most people are accustomed to movie gore, which really doesn't compare to the real thing. If the goal is realism than "blood effects" almost never means "more blood".

Spin it whatever way you want, but the movie in question could use some more blood and gore.

There's videos of people reacting the exact same way to getting executed by ISIS. One vid where they lead a dozen down to the river and pop them in the head with a pistol. Another where they have tens to hundreds lie down next to each other and one ISIS man walks down the line and shoot them in the head with an AK. There's also a video of Russians leading two unbound men to a wall and gunning them down with a light machine gun fired from the hip.
In all these cases the people being shot were captured enemy combatants in their prime age and they all behaved like the Jews you see in that clip.

Your ideas are edgy bullshit born from ignorance and emotional immaturity.

You don't die instantly from gunshot wounds that aren't right in the head so this is actually more realistic than the current hollywood PG-13 "get shot, instantly fall to the ground and die bloodlessly like you just got hit by lightning"
>>
>>81775618
There's a massacre of German POW's by the NKVD in 1945 that p much goes the same way.

It's how unarmed people act under these circumstances
