I love it. Despite that in season 2 I had some mixed feelings about the show conclusively removing all ambiguity about "supernatural" stuff, when kevin died and came back, I just can't hate the show, because it gets the feels going deep.
I'm curious about where it will go, and I like that it doesn't feel predictable at all. I still think season 1 will end up being my favorite. Maybe.

After seeing critics gush about season 3 last week I decided to give this show a shot.

Season 1 is great. Interesting plots and okay characters. It had a few stupid moments, especially scenes involving teenagers, but it was overall a good show.

Season 2 feels fucking awful so far.
One big takeaway is they got hit by the diversity train, people probably complained about too many white people in season 1 so they cast and wrote shitty black characters/actors.
The S2 opening credits are fucking retarded and so is that fucking song.
Actually the sound design in general is fucking stupid. I know horror movies like to have most audio quiet so they can hit you with jump scares, but this show has low audio and will randomly blast you with shitty songs thats WAYYYYY louder than anything else. Everything about season 2 just makes me mad while I try to slog through it hoping the interesting shit from S1 pops up and is explained or explored more, but it isn't so far.

The only show I've ever seen to have such a shocking drop in quality from S1 to S2 is Wayward Pines, but at least that is explained because the original showrunner/creator/writer was dropped. Funny enough, that show obviously got hit by the diversity train as well S2 and the show suffered for it.

Next show that will get hit by the diversity train AND have a similar drop in quality from S1 to S2 will be Stranger Things.

Giving characters disabilities (epilepsy/deaf) doesn't make them good characters. I'm over halfway through S2 and that family and almost everything about Miracle seems forced and stupid.

I have a hard time believing the same people involved in S1 had ANYTHING to do with S2. Not only are the new characters shit, they seem to have fucked up some of the returning characters as well.

I think it was a nice song in the sense that it had an obvious lyrical connection with the theme and also a more -seemingly- light spiritted vibe about it which obviously fitted a small town in texas county.

I think it's pretty fitting. Also the opening sequence was way more beautiful than season 1, which really was a bit over dramatic and would have been expected in an illuminati kind of show or whatever.

The lyrics are definitely a layer that take on a darker tone when in context of the show but there's the whole joke about the banjo/bluegrass being incapable of a sad sound that really fits here and is largely what makes the whole thing works. She could be singing about something completely unrelated by the twangy country voice and happy bluegrass instruments interspersed with happy people in family photos is what gives it that unsettling feeling and makes it so good when you add in the idea of the departure. The lyrics are more a bonus if anything.

while i feel you, the lyrics are really fundamental to the entire opening. the point is the nature of the departure and the departed is a total mystery, one that is similar to death (what the song is about) but totally unique as death is commonplace, and the departure was a one-time event. most people think there's an afterlife, and the departure can be interpreted as either lending credence to or arguing against an afterlife.

What is with the s2 praise when s1 was way better.
