>Too few characters out there, flying around like that, saving old girls like me. And Lord knows, kids like Henry need a hero. Courageous, self-sacrificing people. Setting examples for all of us. Everybody loves a hero. People line up for them, cheer them, scream their names. And years later, they'll tell how they stood in the rain for hours just to get a glimpse of the one who taught them how to hold on a second longer. I believe there's a hero in all of us, that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble, and finally allows us to die with pride, even though sometimes we have to be steady, and give up the thing we want the most. Even our dreams.

There is literally no better quote in a capeshit film.
>>
>They were a bit obsessed with the old... S-E-X. God I'm glad I never think of that type of thing Father. That whole sexual world. God, when you think of it it's a dirty, filthy thing, isn't it Father? Can you imagine Father? Can you imagine Father, looking up at your husband, and him standing over you with his lad in his hand, wanting you to degrade yourself? God almighty can you imagine that Father? Can you picture it there Father? Oh get a good mental picture of it. Can you see him there? Ready to do the business?

Rosemary Harris is a way better actor in these movies than people give her credit for. The money scene is genuinely heartbreaking. Literally nothing in the MCU feels like that.

>>

It's a goldmine of good film making. It's held together with perfectly cast actors that all worked really well with Raimi. Even Patton Oswalt thinks so, as much as I'd hate to agree with him on anything.

Probably, although I think I like the first one more.

The only better capeshit movies are the ones that aren't really capeshit, they just happen to star comic characters. Spiderman revelled in what it was, and it's a perfect example of a nice little children's film with a nice message.

Seeing grown ass adults lining up for trash like the Avengers makes me sick.

>>Why does Disney make such great animated films (or at least that's what I've heard about them) but fuck up every Marvel and Star Wars flick?
They haven't made a good movie in years.

People tend to give Disney a massive concession because the movies are "for kids", and they'll eat up anything, but honestly, they peaked with Lion King and everything since has been going slowly downhill, with the last few years being nothing but complete trash.

WALL-E is just dull, and the only good part of Up is the first 5 minutes.

Moana looked like your standard "girls are strong too" tripe, and Zootopia wasn't even interesting enough for me to finish the trailer.

Disney just got lazy, after they killed 2D animation it costs them almost nothing to shit out a new kids movie.

>>81736280
The way the guy yells "hurry up" in the Raimi scene when he's robbing the guy always stuck with me too. It just had a lot of power and menace to it. Then the way the cop says "stop that guy" was really well delivered too. They even flat out copied it in TASM and it was kind of lazy.
>>
>>81736498
>cop gets pissy at peter for not stopping a guy with a gun
>>
>>81736543
I think it's implied the cop was aware of Peter's performance in the ring. Even so you're right, it's a little farfetched but fuck it's a comic book movie and it's not like the cop stands there and chews him out.
>>

Headcanon. I like it but there really isn't anything in the films to show that. Just her showing up to say the perfect thing at the perfect time, which Peter's Aunt would try to do. Not because he was Supaidaman, but because that was her nephew and she was a genuinely caring person.

Uncle Ben is supposed to die over something meaningless because Peter was selfish. The Raimi movies made his decision tragic but justified and then retconned it to exempt Peter of any culpability.

That's not true actually because in Spider-Man 3 the flashback shows the one guy run up to Marko, which startles him, causing him to shoot Ben. His death would still have been prevented if Peter stopped the guy.

>>
>>81740483
He fights crime with no disguise. He walks among humans with a disguise. Most superheroes don't operate that way. He discovered who he really was when Jor-El spoke to him at the fortress of solitude (i'm going off the Donner film here) so no, he really isn't Clark Kent. Jor-El literally told him everything. The planet he was from, his real name, etc. so after that point he was pretending to be Clark Kent.
>>
>>81740598
If Kony called you up and said your real name was M'Kembe would you suddenly adopt the personality of a child soldier and disregard your childhood, teen years, and everything your parents taught you?
>>
>>81740517
And delivered marvelously as well.
>>
>>81740705
I would have no reason to believe him, so no. Again, as far as the Donner film goes, the green crystal packed in Kal-El's escape pod led him to the north pole, where he threw it in the water, creating the fortress, then the hologram of Jor-El appeared and told him who he really was. That's a little different from a random guy calling you on the phone and telling you shit. Faggot.
>>
>>81740744
BUT PETER IS EMO XD
>>
>>81740598
Yes, we've all seen Kill Bill.
>>
>>81740855
So if you used an alien crystal to reveal a fortress at the north pole, and the hologram of El-Kony said your real name was M'Kembe, would you suddenly adopt the personality of a child soldier and disregard your childhood, teen years, and everything your parents taught you?
>>
>>81740859

>>

>>
>>81741070
That's completely false, man. His human upbringing is what defined him and make him different from his race. It's literally the point of Superman.
>>
>>81741135
But Clark Kent isn't his true identity. Jor-El gave him a name long before John and Martha Kent did. His home planet isn't Earth.

>Even though you've been raised as a human being, you are not one of them

He may have been raised as Clark Kent, but after finding out who he really was, Clark Kent became his disguise, walking among the normal people of Earth. Then, when necessary, he shows his real, plain face to the world as Superman. He takes off the suit and glasses. He becomes a different person.

Makes me think of Aunt May's perspective, maybe she looked at Peter as a sort of grown up Henry and Spider-Man as a separate person out there, an a person closer to an ideal l like she describes as "Courageous, self-sacrificing people. Setting examples for all of us."

She knows Peter is a good person, a nice young man, and when she reflects on how he must've felt telling her what he did about Uncle Ben, she sees in Peter some courage, some self-sacrifice, a person who can and will grow to be great if they have great examples like that Spider-Man out there. Maybe her advice to Peter was to help him be better and grow as a person, assuming that Spider-Man already knows these things since he's out there putting his neck on the line for nothing. Peter doesn't realize what he really is to the world as Spider-Man, he's too humble, he knows he's young and flawed and Spider-Man is just the red mask he puts on, but for Aunt May and anyone else to know that out there is this guy doing these things with his incredible gifts must fill them with such a hope.

He gets no money, no incentive, he just goes out and fights and tries his best to help and save people. This is a god among us, the sort of person if he even is a person that inspires us and gives us courage, shows us what we can be if we try a little harder and give a little more.

How would it feel to know he's some kid who has problems getting his homework in on time? This guy hasn't had a girlfriend yet. You can be this guy on the train, have decades of life experience and even father a son and think you're something and then the mask comes off and it's just some kid out there. It's not even you with strong muscles, life experience and maturity to back it up, it's just your son, that baby you used to hold in your arms and he's out there staring down gun barrels and flying cars like it's what he's supposed to be doing.

There's no way Aunt May knew, her Peter who ran away at the bank, who went to school and got bullied, who probably spilled his milk or cut his finger or scraped his shin a little and cried is out there. She saw it herself, the metal spike Ock was going to shove through him, trick him into coming to help and then tear him apart with it. If in her mind it was Peter slingshotting himself into it, into death every day for the sake of others, I think she'd have a heart attack on the spot.

It's intentional. It's evidence of how facetious and shortsighted his put-upon faux happiness is.
In other words, it's pure kino.

His persona is identical in BvS and there isn't any interactions apart from Perry arguing over the story coverage.

He's also dead so not sure if we'll ever see Clark Kent, the Daily Planet reporter again.

The robolegs were actually a mix of practical and computer effects, the hospital scene with them was a great throwback to Evil Dead:

i dont think so. I think hes genuinely happy, and why shouldn't he be? That's what makes his return that much more significant.
>>
>>81750760
>>81750807
Seriously? Okay. That whole scene shows how he's choosing happiness over doing the right thing by willfully ignoring the shit going down in the world around him and just the general derpiness that goes with being a awkward young adult college student on his own. Only by ignoring a montage of bad things happening to him and freezing and focusing on the one good moment he's had since his decision can he find true happiness. He's deluding himself into thinking it's worth it by filtering out and distorting reality to suit himself.

I wonder if the limiting factors of DVD quality played a part in making CGI look more believable at the time

It really is. Spiderman 2 is kinda campy fun, but there's some real emotion in that scene. She stops being this cliché wise old auntie and becomes an old, desperate person for a second. Don't take me wrong, Im not saying is higher art or some shit, but it was a nice little moment with true life in it. That's very rare in these kind of movies.
Also, Im pretty nostalgic about it kek
>>
>>81736280
Also, Spiderman must catch the guy. In Webb's TASM, he becomes Spiderman to find the guy who killed his uncle and get even. He's getting revenge on the guy.
In the original trilogy (and in the comic books ) he finds the guy and realizes he fucked up. He learns a lesson and becomes Spiderman because "with great power comes great responsibility". That's Spiderman arc. I don't give a fuck about Garfield's Spiderman, he's a fuck up. Fuck him.

Did Aunt May know Peter was Spider-Man?
>>
>>81735617
Zootopia and Jungle Book have surpassed Lion King. You need to take off your rose-tinted nostalgia glasses.

>>81748216
>He's just a kid, no older than my son
Holy shit. I don't hate capeshit, Marvel or whatever but goddamn, that was a great moment that hasn't been topped. It's a definitive superhero moment; to see the hero's real face and realize he's just a very good person doing his best. It really makes you admire Peter for a second there, want to be like him. I've never felt that before or since in any superhero movie, and it is what they should try to make you feel.
>>
>>81748216
The bank scene is what makes me know aunt may knew Peter was spiderman. Kicks her chair away five feet missing a bank vault door, leaves her sprinting faster than she's ever seen, and two seconds later spiderman shows up with the same exact voice as her nephew and she doesn't know? Come on now. Her little "what do you mean we?" Is another hint I like to think. I raised you nigga, you'd probably be robbing banks if not for I.
>>
>>81737683

Watch the scene again. May's body language gives it away. She totally knew and said it for Peter's benefit. Besides, she'd have to be a moron not to pick up on all the clues and coincidences that point to Peter.
>>
>>81750760
No matter how many times I watch this movie I always for one millisecond think the movie is over and credits are going to roll.

I'm going to un-ironically defend the Webb/Garfield Spiderman since no one else will:

Raimi's Spiderman allows the thief to take his money to prove a point to the wrestling manager, and he honestly didn't deserve the money anyway. He was supposed to spar with Bonesaw for 3 minutes & improv some wrestling theatrics, not beat the living shit out of the guy in a minute.

Garfield Spiderman was just being a regular teenager. It wasn't about the chocolate milk, it was about store policy and sticking it to the man. Granted, the clerk probably isn't management that's pushing that retarded policy, but he's not really separating the clerk & management/ownership in that scene he's just being a teenager.

The thief is righting a perceived wrong by tossing the milk in Peter's eyes, he doesn't see it as buying silence which is what it actually is. Peter isn't thinking "oh yay, chocolate milk" it's "fuck this guy I'm glad his store got robbed."

Anybody else feel that Aunt May knew since the first film? Out of everybody in the city, Green Goblin takes her? She wasn't an idiot, she knew Peter was Spider-Man.
>>
>>81735771
I'd say most people agree that Wall-E and Zootopia are great movies

Moana fell flat but it was alright

I don't think it costs nothing to shit out movies, though, they seemed to pride themselves on the effort put into the fur in Zootopia and the hair in Moana which were very well done

It's funny to meme on movies you haven't watched but at least don't admit to or be proud of being pointlessly ignorant on the films

Yeah I never got the impression that Peter was absolved of guilt in this series, Ben's death comes as an obligation to suffer for others.

The Spiderman Reimi films had the best fucking soundtrack of any superhero movie, that's a fact.
