Cause the Jedi though fairly nobel are not good for the republic. In the end it is nothing but a cult for those with super powers.

They do more good than bad of course but at times have shown themselves in the series over and over to make bad choices that were bad for the republic that would not have been made had they not been a cult.

Anakin was blinded by love and brainwashed to hate the Jedi because of Sidious. This is why he destroyed the Jedi Order. Luke, if anything, would most likely want to destroy the Order for more noble reasons or he could just be a depressed old man. Also, if you keep assigning the role of the Chosen One to everybody then you run the risk of having nobody be the Chosen One because they wouldn't believe.
