>>81714842
No one will ever love you as much as people on this board love a tv show from the 90s.
>>
>>81718118
Seinfeld was and still is infinitely more popular than Frasier and is still considered "cool" today.
Case in point it's still a big ratings grabber on a major cable channel (TBS) and is in syndication in most local broadcast markets in America. I haven't seen Frasier in syndication since 2009.
Seinfeld has become the subject of memes in recent years.
Larry David has had continuing success with Curb and shows like Always Sunny continue to carry Seinfeld's mantle.
Jerry Seinfeld turned into a meme with Bee Movie and Michael Richards turned into a meme with his outburst.
Plus, Constanza has long been a 4chan meme.

That's all it is really...
>>
>>81718518
I've seen every episode 10+ times. And there is no shame in my game.
>>
>>81718536
Frasier fucked up by getting Niles together with Daphnee.

Seinfeld never changes the relationships of the main 4, they're always just dating randoms. Even Susan gets axed off.

Seriously. They should have just ended the show on a high note back in season 7. After niles and daphne got together the show went downhill as it dragged on into the early 00s.

It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't as good as the early seasons.

Jazz music is cool as fuck man. I unironically love everything from the post-war swing/big band stuff through cool jazz and modal jazz and post-bop up to early jazz fusion and free jazz when it gets a bit too out there for me.

I read a book about the "Must See TV" era of NBC and it talked about how fucked Kelsey was during the Cheers days well into Frasier's run. Apparently, he would show up hungover and/or still drunk to work and then just magically turn into Dr. Frasier Crane once the cameras were rolling.

And they were right...

Also, how do I unlock Bulldog for the later levels? He stopped showing up on the character select screen
>>
>>81715504
Same. Such a well-written and comfy show.
>>
>>81719200
Yup they had to change a whole episode in season 2 of frasier to be a miles only one because Kelsey got busted for drunk driving and possession of coke
>>
>>81719262
You have to beat the game with Niles and get every Martin badge in every level under three minutes. But Bulldog is overrated, he plays just like Gil.
>>
>>81719145
/mu/ has /jazz/ generals (and /classical/ too, if you're into that)

Here's some old /mu/ charts:

Just go to the chart and it sorts stuff by ranking and tells you what sub-genre of jazz it is.

The episode where Niles fills in on the radio show and ends up becoming an NBA player's psychiatrist was originally written for Frasier but Kelsey Grammer had to go to rehab for coke addiction.

Other than that the dude is extremely professional. You can't tell from any of his performances how fucked up his life is. Great actor.

We didn't have HBO so I missed out on stuff like Curb and The Wire and The Sopranos until about 2005 when I bought the DVDs.

It's genuinely incredible how dense and multifaceted the writing is. I rewatch the whole series every few years and without fail catch new jokes, in many cases so obscure or delivered so subtly the audience completely misses them. It's also amazing that a show with that kind of depth managed such mainstream popularity for so long.

Honestly, is there any message board or forum out there for real, non-meme infected discussion of tv and films beyond current flavor of the month shit?

As garbage as the IMDB boards were, it was still cool to have a designated board for every show/movie/actor out there where you could just strike up a chat about it/them at any given point of the day. Sometimes you'd wait minutes, hours, days, weeks for a response, but it always came. It was a slow stream continuous conversation.

The problem with /tv/ is that it if the thread doesn't take off right away, it will get buried in shitposting and 404. And it's hard to get people willing to discuss one topic at the right time.

>"I came into this earth a sinner, but by the grace of Lord his holiest I was made clean. Jesus Christ sacrificed himself to the Jews for my sins, and the sins of all others. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't ashamed my grandson and my daughter in law were of the tribe of levites who savaged my saviour. Sometimes I blame myself for raising a son who would lie with a whore of Babylon, other times I think only one of my sons turned against the father - Niles married two good Christians, so maybe I was a good father, with one bad son. Perhaps the story of Cain and Abel is appropriate in this time, and I should have had Niles kill Frasier. Perhaps this is all for naught, I will be dead soon and my heir will worship the death bringers of who I go to in the next life. I will never see him again, and if my God is a just God, he will spend eternity in hell. For this I pray. Amen."

Martin: Look son, do me a favor. Don't hate your mother for this.

Exactly, and they all have this horribly rigid post-modern sleek and shiny aesthetic now.

Cafe Nervosa, Monk's Cafe, and Central Perk were some comfy as fuck hangout spots

Obviously it was very much exaggerated atmosphere and decor for tv, but there were places like that out there. Some a bit hip and trendy and others just under the radar spots that had been there for decades.
>>

>coffee and biscuits

>>
>>81724342
>all have this horribly rigid post-modern sleek and shiny aesthetic now.
I can't stand this! "Post-modern" design is so ugly, so un-comfy.
I know a few places around that are sort of like Nervosa or Monk's, but again, the post-modern design makes everything so uncomfy and attracts the 'wrong' sort of people, if I may say that without sounding snobbish
>>
>>81724433
Honestly, I don't think that's snobby at all. The beauty of Nervosa was that it was very casual and almost organic in a way, but also slightly highbrow. It's the kind of place where all sorts of people, young, old, college students, working professionals, can come to unwind and just have a chat or read a book or do a crossword puzzle. It's not some sort of corporate chain cafe that Starbucks was spreading back at the time where they pump you full of caffeine so you can sit there for hours and type away at your computer like a workhorse wageslave, just another cog in the wheel of capitalism.

You walk into any Starbucks and you'll just see rows of earpiece and business suit cyborgs fidgeting in their seat looking miserable while slamming away at the keys at lightspeed.

I used to binge watch Frasier when I would go on drug binges.

My favorite time was having ego loss while Fraser was on that road trip and started to have hallucinations of all the women who were important to him. Seeing Lilith, the bar hostess, the hippy, and his mother was like meeting the different aspects of my own life.

Good show. Love the atmosphere and the pretentiousness of Frasier Crane.
