Hang out? yes

Shoes indoors?
No

Have their societal norms be heavily influenced by 4 jews?
Yes
>>

>Shoes indoors?
>No

Ok so is this a meme or not? I'm getting conflicting reports. Maybe it varies from state to state?

Wearing shoes inside a home is a social faux pas in my country unless the host has specified its ok for some reason.
>>
>>81713418
I wear shoes in the house all the time. I hate being in just socks or barefoot.
>>

ARE MAKING ME THIRSTY!
>>
>>81713479
No, Americans do not wear their shoes in other people's houses. The only exceptions are:

1. Repairmen (plumbers, electricians, etc.)
2. Retards
>>
>>81713323
It was always strange to me how they barge inside each other's apartments through thin-as-fuck front doors like it's nothing, but I'm sure scenes wouldn't flow nearly as well otherwise.
>>
>>81713479
>>81713484
Maybe it's normal if you were raised in the jungle
>>

Only Jerry is canonically Jewish. Jerry and Kramer could have been I guess but it was never stated in the show.
>>
>letting your friends know where you live

for what purpose?
>>
>>81713521
Yeah thats another thing. Whats the deal (lol) with these carpet floors in the US? Seems impossible to clean and you'd need to hire someone to do it almost. I've been to America and they had these floors. I spilled wine on it and the host had to go and clean it right away to avoid permanent stains which seems a hassle.
>>
>>81713552
>>81713567
It's not a custom or anything though. Just the polite thing to do so you don't mess up someone's carpeting.

Carpets are nice to walk on and if you got kids or pets or something it helps for them, and some people like the look of them more than tiles.

They are a bigger burden but some people consider it worth the effort.
>>
>>81713637
>>81713704
Thanks for the insight. It was pretty comfy to walk on I guess.
>>
Do Americans really have carpeted floors?
>>

Yeah. Hardwood flooring is expensive here.

Shoes indoors is fine in America because we have paved roads

I feel like that's something almost everyone does with people they are comfortable with and just know it's cool without having to ask. Like I have some friends where I can just walk in their house without knocking and others where it would be weird if I did. Plus in this show I feel like if you have to get buzzed in to get into the apartment complex than that would basically count as the knocking part

So George is Jewish on his mother's side, and Italian on his father's side (Frank was a Knight of Columbus, a Catholic fraternity). >>
>>81716679
Actually standing vs sitting is a common debate here. Also, what are you Euros even doing up? Isn't it 3am there?
>>
>>81716480
It depends what we are talking about here. When you or I get home, we almost certainly take our shoes off. However, if I were to visit someone's house be it for dinner, or a party, I would leave my shoes on unless told otherwise.

I feel like in the US, if you go to another person's house and immediately take your shoes off, it comes off as weird. Unless it's a close friend, I don't take my shoes off unless they tell me to or if there is an obvious pile near the door or something.
>>
>>81716710
See >>81716695. In my experience it's mainly just annoying moms yelling at kids to take their shoes off.
>>
>>81716747
This. I would feel weird immediately talking my shoes off at someone's house unless they say so. And again, you usually experienced this as a kid so it just kind of got ingrained in us.
>>
>>81716747
>I would leave my shoes on unless told otherwise.
I always ask what their etiquette is unless it's very obvious.
>or if there is an obvious pile near the door or something.

You're speaking for yourself, and only your mongoloid self. Now sweep your fucking floor.
>>
>>81716747
This sounds right
A LOT of context goes into whether I am going to wear shoes inside or not.

If its a good friends house and we plan on staying there for a while, shoes come right off.
If we plan to leave in 30 minutes or so, they stay on.
If its someone you dont know, they stay on unless explicitly told not to, or every other person there has done the same

I used to live in a house with all hardwood and I would wear shoes around the house all day long. I would never do that now that I have carpet.
>>

>>
>>81716972
>If its someone you dont know, they stay on unless explicitly told not to
Why don't you just ask?
>>
>>81716747
This the only correct answer in the thread. Taking your shoes off when visiting, especially if it's someone you're not close with, makes it seem like are too comfortable in a place that isn't your own.
>>
>>81717019
Because thats something you are supposed to figure out on your own through context. Its a weird question that you shouldnt ask, almost putting someone on the spot as if to say "I dont want to take my shoes off".
>>
>>81716691
That's all you got? You're at least 20 years too late to take issue with retard as an insult retard.

Yes it is rude.

>Asking guests to take off their shoes is tantamount to saying that you value your flooring more than their comfort. Good luck enforcing that, particularly with older generations. Try taking up your expensive or light-colored carpets when they visit -- and invest in a mop and a vacuum. These are your relatives, and even if you don't care about their feelings, your husband does.

There was this girl I liked that was a friend of a friends, we hung out a few times. My friend notice I kinda had a thing for her, she told me her friend enjoyed hanging out with me, thought I was cute.

My friend gives me her number, we start to text, agree to get some drinks, but she doesn't have a car so I have to pick her up. I drive to her house and text her I'm here. She apologizes and says she's still not ready yet, but tells me to come inside and wait for 10 mins until she's ready to go out. She opens the door, tells me she has to take out her laundry and tells me I can sit on the couch. She walks into her basement and I take off my shoes and sit on the couch.

She walks up the stairs carrying a laundry basket, tells me she just has to get a clean outfit on (she's was waitress who worked earlier in the day). She comes out all dressed up in clean clothes and walks toward the couch but stops dead in her tracks, staring at my shoe-less feet. I ask if she's ready to go, shes still silent for a bit and then says she can't go out, her clothes weren't fully clean, and apologizes.

I go home and text her the next day. No response. I sporadically text throughout the next week and a half, still no response. I'm hanging out with our mutual friend a month later, ask her what happened to her friend.

She tells me I freaked her friend out by taking my shoes off in her house. She said it made her friend feel uncomfortable since we only hung out a few times and its something someone who was trying to be her "boyfriend" would do. I tell my friend I was only trying to be polite and not drag dirt on the carpet. but my friend didn't even buy it.

Not even staffed always. And how does that change anything in regards to cleanliness? When hosting a dinner party you don't tell everyone to take off their shoes.

Bull Shit.
These people pay upwards 100,000 for a pair of shoes,

TF you think they'd take them off for?!
SHIT IS A LAMBO

The only people that had me take off shoes as a kid were Hispanics, who were invariably poor. Asian immigrants did this as well. Everyone else kept their shoes on indoor, and my parents were upper middle class.

>my parents were upper middle class.

Financially sure, but not when it comes to tact and decorum

>Shoes are much cleaner than bare feet.
Educate yourself mongoloid.

Nah it was pretty much only lower class people that did it. The poor immigrants who brought over the habit from their home country. This is in SoCal though where we don't have weather. There's nothing dirty to bring in on your shoes.

You're falling into the trap of mistaking being a jew for being part of judaism.
>being jewish is a faith
>being jewish is an ethnicity
The shape-shifting kike will flip-flop between the two, whichever best puts him at the advantage.

As far as I'm concerned, all the principal characters in Seinfeld are jewish since the writing staff were. Even Elaine.

Its a climate thing in North America

Canada and northern states you take your fucking shoes off because the variety of weather means you're tracking shit inside more months of the year than not.

Plus, I dunno about murica but at least in leaftown, carpeting in most of the home has been pretty standard for the past 30/40 years. So obviously, when you have carpets you remove shoes so you dont grind dirt and shit into them.
>>
>hardwood or tile: shoes
>carpet or area rug: no shoes

What's difficult is when houses have weird transitions between the two and you're stuck trying to decide if you want to leave them on or not.
>>
You really take your shoes off? Doesn't that seem kind of lewd? I don't go and take my shirt off at a friend's house just because there's some dog hair on it.
>>

Fact. Even the most hygienic person's person's feet release oils and bacteria into carpet.

Educate yourself, you disgusting animal.

We're in a northern state so that would probably explain the difference

Socks absorb sweat and oils and it goes right to the carpet.

Most hygienic option is rubber soled slippers or a pair of light flip flops.

Fact, there are germs on the ground outside your house, far more than whatever you will find on your feet.

Educate yourself pigpen.

Southern California valley suburbanite reporting in. We just do a quick hosing of any shoes when we come back in. Keeps them clean and lets you keep your shoes on. You only try to spray the bottom though so you don't get the top and wet socks. Then you dry off and go in.
