Jaws certainly. Jurassic Park arguably. Also Fight Club.
Not saying its a good movie, but its still better than the book

Excalibur if it can be counted as an adaptation of L'mort du Arthur.
Maybe The Man Who Would Be King.

The Book was good, but the Soundtrack in this was Godtier

I own and love this movie but the only parts of the soundtrack I can recall were classical pieces. They were really well used, but I don't remember anything original.
And as much as I love the movie (I made a costume complete with crappy blinking red light collar one Halloween), the book was immensely superior. The way pretty much every student got a chapter from their perspective made it impossible to tell which characters would outlast the others and the finale that they cut from the film was one of the coolest I've read in an action novel.
Pic related was the only one in the series that felt like a true adaptation rather than a cash grab. Not only is it the best, the book it was based on was the worst in the book series and of the four films this one was smart in straying the furthest from the source material.
