I actually liked Ultron's personality and mannerisms. Made him very personable but also way too invested in his own ideas to stop. The issues are that the character should not have been Ultron and the plan should have made sense.

I like how several iterations of Ultron in the movie look menacing and villainous, while the main guy has boombox cheeks and a face showing too many emotions for a robot. He looks so fucking juvenile and non-threatening it's a joke.

True, but villains in kids' movies can look and sound scary without going camp. Think Shere Khan from the old Jungle Book movie.
