He's a fucking weirdo and I hate him as a person, but his movies are generally pretty entertaining.

Every now and then though there's this feeling like he's trying too hard to make a "Tarantino movie". It's hard to explain what I mean, but there's something about his recent movies that come off as almost self-fellating. Like he wants people to say "Wow! Only that whacky Quentin could make a movie like this!"

I agree. Seems like the guy is trying too hard to create multicomplex, very tarantionish conversations with his characters. You know, the one where a peraon is talking/ranting about very random thing that serves no purpose to the movie. For example, tipping scene in Reservoir Dogs and the dicksucking scenario in Hateful 8.

If you remove the dialog, he isn't anything. He is Eli Roth with a vocabulary
