I mean sure, there were some diehard nerds who hated TPM when it premiered(Like Spoony), but the whole ride of Episode to Episode III was buoyed with public love and support, with mainstream critics like Ebert giving glowing rewards to these films.

Do you retards really think RLM invented bashing the shitquels? People liked those reviews because they basically summed up what we hated about them.
Personally I couldn't stand to re-watch the shitquels, I think I've only seen them 2 or 3 times since they were released, so I never really thought about what was wrong with them other than horrible CG, Midiclorians and horrible horrible dialog/story.
What the RLM vids did was basically take the time to go through all the many flaws and in an entertaining way. I don't even get the hate for those vids here. Are you mad because he brings up valid points, or what?

I was 7 when TPM came out, loved it. When I re-watched the Prequels a few years later as a teen, I hated them.

When I rewatched them a couple of years ago, I loved them, realized they had levels of depth.

I marathoned the entire Star Wars hexalogy before watching TFA as a grown man, and I can safely tell you that the Prequels have more artistic flair and integrity in one little bone, than inTFA's entire body

There's no hype around the prequels at all anymore. There's no big spectacle and no attention and build up at all. No one cares if you like it or hate it until you come into places where you still talk about it like here or star wars sites or reddits and whatever fucking forums.

People keep banging RLM, but look at shit like People vs. George Lucas who leave them out to dry. There'll always be media that anti-hypes things after they're released.

It's the same with Force Awakens. It came out to this big spectacle of being so good and amazing and in less than a year even the mainstream started to wane on it. Fucking South Park even shat on it. But now Episode 8 is coming and everyone is super excited again and it's going to be great and everyone having a good time and oh man luke and etc.

If anything, the Disney purchase has damaged it more because now Star Wars is being thrust into the public eye during a very interesting period of time where people are almost entirely attached to bringing back the past or adapting old things in film.

Because now even more people want to talk about it.
