As far as storytelling goes, the benefit anime has over American shows is that it's more story-driven and shorter. American shows have historically been episodic, and even though story-driven shows have become more popular they also go on for as long as there's enough viewers which is not necessarily good. Anime also has significantly more artistic freedom and doesn't have the production limitations of live action.

Music has never been considered important in American TV, while in anime it has been. I'm not sure why. Or maybe it's that American TV has failed to attract good composers or something about it doesn't lend itself well to memorable music.

I have no fucking idea, but it's absolutely true.

My best guess would be that, because most anime comes from manga, there is a "weeding out" process in the transition from paper to animated that western stuff doesn't get. Generally, you know an anime will be pretty well received because the manga does well.

Anime tropes aren't filled with extremist feminism and blatant anti-Japanese racism. Even their cliches are superior.

The only bad part is how obnoxious this series is about keeping things from the viewer just for the sake prolonging a mystery for every extra second they can.
Big offending scene in this latest episode was the cutaway just as the priest was saying the name of the important person he was told to monitor.
