It's got great suspenseful action, likable and interesting characters, a fantastic training scene, a dark tone but still manages to be a fun star wars movie unlike rouge one, and of course one of the best movie climaxes of all time and an amazing twist, the last 20 minutes of Empire is some of the finest film making of all time. The plot is paced to perfection and information is given in an intelligent way that respects the viewers. It is the perfect action/adventure movie, you can't see this because you suffer from pleb movie-watcher syndrome but hopefully you will see the light someday.

2 big problems with the movie. 1 - the stakes in the battle on hoth are never clear. Why should we care? What's the context? Why would I give a shit if some base is blown up or not? So the entire battle just becomes a special effects scene with no story behind it. Half an hour of nothing, pretty much 2 - how amazingly dull sky city is. There's nothing there. It's interesting to live in the world where you grew up enjoying the prequels and all the great games with great designs from the prequels and then be told by people that actually you didn't enjoy that stuff because it's trash.

I can't enjoy the original trilogy, it's campy, it's a lot of desert followed by a lot of missed shots followed by space action that i never really cared about. In the ep V it's a lot of snow. In ep 6 it's desert yet again.

Yes, prequel trilogy has ridiculous romance, but when viewed as a quintessential retardation of Hollywood romances it's fun and can be enjoyed. CGI sucks but at a point where most of cgi sucks for you it also can be enjoyed. Politics suck but in reality for me they don't, i enjoy all that convoluted madness, not as high art but as comfy background noice.

The only thing that i really don't like from trilogy is anakin's transformation: i don't understand the exact point where he went blindly "evil" and then became reasonably evil as vader. Maybe he had time to contemplate his life choices like hatin on padme and obi wan even though he did stuff in the name of padme but I'm not into EU stuff so i don't know if it was explored.

It's pretty bad. All the characters are lame, our MC as an example is already super powerful when she starts out and doesn't have any kind of arc. Darth Vader doesn't come in contact with the main story, so it's like two completely seperate stories we switch between for him. The action looks pretty bad, the bright sand oasis planet doesn't blend well visually with the blaster shots. Redeeming qualities is the exploration, they travel to many different worlds and walk around a bit and they're visually pleasing yet derivative. Overall 2/10 movie, it's barely a movie desu.

The battle is a fighting retreat for the Rebellion against a resurgent Empire that's recovered from the destruction of the Death Star. The whole idea is to convey that the stakes have risen since the farm boy got the lucky shot against the doomsday machine.
