I'll submit that it is nostalgia for the most part, but the campy, yet surprisingly uncynical early 2000's Superhero movies were so much more enjoyable for some reason.

The lack of expanded universe shit made them a lot more digestible, as well. Perhaps it helped that the general public still didn't really give a shit about superheroes, yet.

It all went downhill when Disney bought Marvel and started churning out cookie cutter products for normies to choke down year after year. Now it's all about how much money they can make for Disney, and as for DC, I just plain don't like those movies. The only hope we have at this point for good capeshit is another Spawn movie, but who knows how that will turn out.
