Okay. So at the end: when MacReady hands Child's the bottle it's the same type of bottle that he used to make the Molotovs. It's a test. If Child's reacts to the booze he knows it's really Childs. However, if Child's doesn't react then MacReady knows that he's the Thing because it wouldn't be able to tell the difference between alcohol and gasoline.
