Alright dumb-dumbs, lemme give you a quick rundown on what you're seeing in this scene: the planet is called Crate (unsure of the spelling) and it was a mining planet used to fund the Rebellion but has been out of commission for a while. It is unclear why the Resistance has reestablished a presence at the old rebel mine, it could be to use as a new base of operations or simply to restore operations for funding. Regardless, the years of disuse is most likely the reason the mining ships seen in the trailer are in such disarray. The mining ships DO NOT take out the walkers with chains or cables. The rebels were mining some type of large crystals and apparently the resistance forces are able to take out the walkers by dropping these crystals on them, leading me to believe that they are highly unstable. I would wager the planet itself is relatively volatile and that's why simply scratching the surface releases the large red clouds.
