Sometimes i wonder what it's like watching this movie without knowing a single thing about Anno.

I'm not saying this was Anno best work or anything, but everything he does these days is him having a big 'ol laugh with NGE fans, and everyone else doesn't get the joke.
This entire movie is Anno having a reunion with NGE fans and everyone getting together and laughing their asses off.

Everyone else is left out.
Even Godzilla fans are left out, this movie wasn't actually made for Godzilla fans, at all.
