It's ABSOLUTELY out of character for the Winchesters. Fucking hack writers...They could have never mentioned Adam again and shit would have been copacetic, but nah.
They had Dean CHOOSE to keep Adam in Hell in season 6, brought him up again in that gay musical episode, and when GOD came back they didn't mention him at all. Not even a bullshit throwaway line about his soul being in Heaven. This dude was in Heaven and got yanked out and cast into Dean and Sam World and THEN got thrown into SUPER HELL for what must be centuries by now. I'm really starting to believe Sam and Dean really are villains. I miss Gordon.

It was EXACTLY that. They had a chance to get rid of ALL demons off the face of the earth, but Dean chose to convince Sam not to do it in order to save his life. Zachariah even told Adam while he was in heaven that Sam & Dean would rather save themselves than save the world.
