The Rock is a great action movie, probably has the greatest cast of "that guy" actors in secondary roles, but it's not the best ever. Its Michael Bayness keeps it from being an all-time great. Some of the shit is just so over the top, and not even in a good over the top Commando way, just kind of in a cringey way. It also drags a bit in the middle. There's just no way a movie like this should be creeping towards two and a half hours.

I'd never seen this before and my buddy made me watch it with him one night begrudgingly. I have to say for being over two hours long it was actually really fucking great. 9/10 would definitely recommend.

It's really unfortunate people go to Die Hard as THE classic 80's action flick instead of Lethal Weapon. Yeah there's lots of great 80's action movies but those two are the most mainstream and popular, but Lethal Weapon is the superior film. It just irks me because some people don't realize how good Lethal Weapon 1 and 2 actually are.

Lethal Weapon had the better Michael Kamen score too.
