What are some good Japanese films? Just saw a movie called Love Exposure that I thought was pretty great.
Any other great Japanese films (more contemporary would be better (i.e., 1980's and newer))
Yojimbo
Sword of Doom
Ran
Izo
Lesson of Evil

Anything Kurosawa is great, though it's all pretty old. Give Sanjuro a watch if you liked Yojimbo, it's essentially the sequel.
The Ring (the original, of course) and House are classic horror movies. House is really weird and kinda comedic and super surreal, give it a watch if you haven't already.
Kids Return
Nobody Knows
Shiki-Jitsu (directed by Anno)
Eureka (2000)
Tokyo Sonata
Zatoichi
Battle Royale
Fish Story
R100
Shin Godzilla
I remember all those being at least watchable

13 Assassins
Audition
Ichi the Killer
Visitor Q
Tokyo Gore Police
Machine Girl
Battle Royale
High and Low
Just watched Tokyo Drifter last night and it was pretty great, check it out
You are better off going for Korean films OP. They passed up Japan in quantity and quality a long time ago.
Sayonara Minasan
Takeshi kitanos Dolls
Twilight samurai
100 yen love
Japanese cinema is unfortunately doomed. I stay here and the majority of films that come out are shitty high school dramas
The latest one is JK and Police. Basically a schoolgirl falls in love and lives with a police guy.
Thankfully Korea and the Scandinavians are still producing kino
What are some japanese movies that really show off the japanese cities or villages?
