>I AM BATMAN
Why did he say that?
>>81509701
Wanted to get laid.
Did you see his gf?
>>81509701
He was describing his bat-like sonar sense of justice.
They had to arrest him because most of the cops in the room were dirty cops.
Joker tried to kill him because we fear what we don't understand
Quite a complex series of events honestly
>Ich bin der Federmausman.

I thought the Joker said he was a man of his word, why would he blatantly lie like that?
>>81512125
It's actually flutter mouse, which is even cuter.

No, the definite article isn't used when expressing a demonym, occupation, or other certain types of status. JFK famously fucked this up with his "jelly donut" remark.
I admit it's a strange thing and I often bungle it. In this case, though, since the word really only refers to one specific person, I don't see how it would make a difference whether the "der" was used or not. Perhaps an actual German can shed some light on this.

That's actually not how it works. The subcomponents are not literally translated, a mistake commonly made by Americans who don't actually speak the language. The parts create a sum which can't be reduced to its parts. "Fledermaus" doesn't actually mean "flying mouse", it means bat.

I had a German exchange student and he couldn't understand why I thought the term "handschuhe" was funny, hand hand shoe. It's hard to get out of the English-speaking mentality of compound words.
