They jumped the shark after Brody died. Kidnapping Saul was ridiculous and then they made Quinn retarded and then dead and made Claire into a flawless heroine, despite the fact she's a drug addled psychopath that can barely handle having a kid. Then they're slowly eroding away their main audience (the 24/Tom Clancy books crowd of middle aged republicans) by moving away from the brainless Al Qaeda tier villains and moving onto more intricate political/philosophical ideas.
