I really like the characters on Saul and the premise is pretty great, but they do a lot of slow tease and buildup without much payoff.

People that are tuning in are watching because of the crime elements and Sauls scammy yet humourous nature. So having a full 2 seasons worth of Sauls tragic backstory is overkill. I'm not against the family drama, poverty struggles, and his love life; but the show cannot lose focus of what it is and what must be done to please the target demographic.

If I wanted a slowburn legal drama without the criminal action and humor, I'd watch fucking matlock.

Occasionally, there's steaks of brilliance in this show, but they're few and far between. Anything with Mike, Tuco, or Nacho is pretty great. Walt, Jesse, and Gus cameos would be awesome.

It can't just be all tease with little payoff like it has been there's sometimes 4 or 5 episodes with so little development you could just some them up as "relationship drama" or the poverty struggle, and not miss literally any critical elements.

I feel like you can watch probably the 5 critical crime/action episodes and get a pretty accurate feel for 95% of the plot since there's so little development and so much filler.

This show needs to get back to it's roots and live up to it's potential, if not, I suspect season 3 will be it's last. Let's see a bit of Saul in action, lets see some scheming with Gus.... if they don't deliver it this season, I suspect they'll never get the chance.
