A pity the Chosen Men are all but gone.

I enjoyed the books a lot, but they got incredibly samey across the series as I read more. What's the appeal of the show?

They're fun as fuck. I really enjoy period pieces. Especially ones set in the 18th and early 19th centuries. There's so few Napoleonic War media out there that Sharpe, Hornblower, and the 1 Jack Aubrey film are rare gems.

Though I really wish there was non-Anglo POV films or TV series. Like one through the eyes of a Russian during the 1812 invasion or an Austrian at the Battle of Leipzig. Or even a Waterloo feature about the Prussians.
