Also, why are serial killers so interesting/addicting? After the thread yesterday I spent like 3 hours reading about Dahmer, Gacy, Corrl, Fish, Kuklinski, Bundy, Rader, etc.

I think it's kind of like eating spicy food or watching a horror film in the sense that you get a small rush from the discomfort which reading about reading about monstrous things causes.

Not true
Just to name a few, BTK, Bundy, Richard Ramirez, Charles Ng, and a couple others that'll probably come to me in a few minutes were basically monsters from the beginning that were always gonna be vicious murderers. Dahmer hated killing and only used it as a means to an end, by the end of his run he was literally drunk 24/7 in order to deal with the fact that he had to kill people.
