because it doesn't take itself too seriously, it hit its light hearted adventure tone perfectly, and feels fun especially nowdays with every movie trying to be super gritty and "deep" but coming off as extremely shallow. Great memorable characters to the point where you can accurately predict their reactions, and then one of them would do something different and it'll have an effect on the story. Also Johnny Depp played jack sparrow perfectly

they just are, except for the bits in the third one with legolas and keira because muh loveydovey drama.

Verbinski. The guy is an incredibly talented director who stages action set-pieces better than nearly anyone else working in blockbuster films. The Lone Ranger is even better.

light hearted adventure. people think this genre is for kids but every single human being wants to be part of a light hearted adventure at some point in their lives, even as adults. also pirates are cool as fugg. european pirates, not somalians

1-3 were kinda cool, but 4 was fucking garbage. fuck them for using Blackbeards name and shitting out some turd that had nothing at all to do with the character.
