ITT: only the best comedies from the last ten years
So why are you posting that shit?
Seriously that's one of the most overrated comedies ever made.
Pic related was unironically underrated
>>81452165
its overrated because its good you fuck
>>81452102
Not impressed by that one.
I wold say pic related, but it came out in 2006.
>>81452102
>tfw it would be a 10/10 if Jack Black's character was removed entirely
And I usually like him too.
In addition to the ones already posted
Walk Hard
Superbad
The Nice Guys
Goon
>>81452165
>we're the millers unironically underrated
literally everyone knows the fucking movie unless you've spent your last 7 years in your mother's basement
>>81452804
>Goon
Sublime taste Anon.
>>81452425
>>81452864
Are you 2 retarded?
To the first retard: OVERrated means its not as good as people claim.
To the 2nd retard: UNDERrated means the film is better than what most people think, "over/underrated" has literally 0 to do with a film being known by many or not, you fucking dumb fuck.
Maybe go learn some basic english before posting here, Jorge
WRONG KID DIED
this was pretty good
>>81453002
boring trash for hipsters
>>81452945
Everyone liked the movie, hence the 7.0 on iMDb, and the 72% on Rotten Tomatoes. I have not met anyone who said that they didn't enjoy this movie. You must be amish or some shit dude.
Fanboying this to the next level. Kek
>>81453002
this movie is painfully unfunny

>tfw met several people from Kazakhstan within the time that movie was relevant and they all looked Mongolian + Russian totally ruining the movie
Should have been from some shitty place actually in Eastern Europe instead of Asia
>>81452555
Brüno was just as good
>>81452555
*epic borat impression* VERY NICE!!!!!!!!
I know a girl from Kazakhstan who is hot as hell. Aryan master race type.
>>81453046
>Trusting user scores
>Not even mentioning that the 72 on RT you're talking about is the USER SCORE, the critics score is 42
Critics hated We're the millers. Don't even try to pretend that user scores matter especially on fucking comedies because pretty much ALL of them have great scores. Everyone I know absolutely loves grown ups which is probably Adam sandler's worst film
>>81453271
No it wasn't, mainly because you knew what to expect.
>>81453310
She has no name because she GIRL!
>>81453041
The Wilderpeople one is also pretty good, although it's less of a comedy.
Shame this guy will be doing marvelshit now.
>>81453002
Funny but that came out 13 years ago

Awful movie, but the Harrison Ford interview makes up for everything else.

Tropic Thunder is overrated.
RDJ and Tom Cruise's characters are the only good thing about it.

I can't believe it's already 7 years old.

>>81453862
>Finding wahlberg funny
>>81452804

I agree with this, that was a quality film
Anyone else find comedy immensely forgettable? I've seen nearly all the films in this thread and barely recall any of them
>>81454285
Maybe you just have no sense of humor
>>81453862
First half was gut splitting, second half was meh
>>81454036
I watched this movie by accident the first time and was in shambles. Great post.
>>81452102
RDJ in Tropic Thunder is the best acting performance of the last 2 decades. Not even meming, its just light years ahead of anything anyone else has done in the same period. It also gets no recognition.
>>81453470
/tv/ won't like this because of all the DUDE WEED guys in it but it was really a great fucking premise for a comedy and when the gimp took his mask off I about shit myself
>>81454285
Almost all comedy is forgettable. You are just laughing at something silly, it doesn't trigger any really strong emotions. Sometimes I watch a comedy and I don't even remember that I've already watched it until the first few jokes give me deja vu
I'm breaking the rules (2001) but the opening scene of pic related is the most quotable shit of all time
>>81453271
Plebs will deny this
>>81454450
Well I remember animal house and blazing saddles pretty well
I never said I didn't find them funny. They just aren't memorable
>>81454239
I think Ryan Goslings performance is one of the best comedic performances in a long time. Him trying to break into a bar and hospitalizing himself at the very beginning is the hardest I've laughed at a movie in years, not to mention
>him drunkenly trying to obtain information at the party
>the Abbott and Costello noises when he finds the body
>the toilet stall
>>81454506
I honestly forgot it was him a few minutes into the movie. Also had no idea that Tom Cruise was in it until I'd seen the movie several times.
>>81453002
"how much you bet ____________ ?" that whole scene was gold. hated that movie first time I saw it. was that true for everyone who likes it ?
Dewey Cox: Walk Hard. So fucking funny. John C. Reily thrives when not playing second fiddle to Will Ferrel.
Easily the funniest movie I have ever seen

The nice guys was forgettable as fuck
>>81454889
How YOU doin'?
>>81454815
>hated that movie first time I saw it. was that true for everyone who likes it ?
Everyone I knew who saw it loved it immediately. I feel like I'm probably older than many people here though. I'm just guessing about that because it's harder to get into a comedy that wasn't targeted at your demographic at the time it came out.
>>81454741
I gotta say. None of that rings a bell and I saw the movie. The smart child meme needs to die
I want to____ Margaret tho
Love this movie
This and its sequel are great
These are the best comedies? Am I in a bait thread? Truly a dead genre

>>81453862
It had a few really fucking funny parts. And then, there was the rest of it.
Macgruber throws his arch-enemy off a cliff, shoots him in mid-air, then shoots his body with a rocket launcher. Time for his big catchphrase:
>Fuck you, dude!
God that movie has so many great moments
>>81454506
>No recognition.
He was nominated for a best supporting actor oscar for a role designed to take the piss out of the oscars.
Macgruber
Tropic Thunder
The Other Guys
Tucker and Dale vs Evil
Walk Hard
Tenacious D atpod
Step Brothers
Are really the only movies I can think of that I can watch over and over and laugh everytime.
And Tropic Thunder really raises the stakes due to the fucking commentary being just as funny if not funnier than the movie.
Not a big fan of Jack Black in the movie, but I get how people would find him funny due to him being a huge fiend.
Just recently seen Goon and it was amazing. I'll probably watch that a few more times and see what I think of it.
>>81452102

Criminally underrated imo

>>81453002
This movie is secretly brilliant
Everyone saying it was "hipster trash" like Juno or 500 days of summer or that other kind of garbage have no idea what they're talking about.
This movie was created before that genre existed, in fact every movie like that after ND is blatantly ripping off ND's style and failing miserably. The movie wasn't made to be trendy hipster garbage, it was made by some weirdo Mormon couple and it's like a perfect character study of people from those kinds of midwestern towns.
Unfortunately hot topic started selling "vote for pedro" t-shirts and a bunch of annoying teenagers started loving it "ironically", and the age of ironic hipster trash began shortly after so people lump this genuine gem into that same wave of bullshit
500 Days of Summer

Those that don't like ND don't because it hit too close to home.

Walk Hard is even more quotable though. Damn near every line is gold.
Are we allowed to discuss tv shows?
is this a joke thread or did you poor underage bastards not grow up with any good movies?
>>81468704
Comedies by nature are the most accessible films made, so it takes 10 years or so before this board considers it not-reddit enough to discuss.

Most of these are just fucking mainstream jew comedies.

The animated series is also so well done. They know they can't match up exactly with the show, so they just breeze on past it and make their own schtick work instead. I can't believe there isn't more Black Dynamite love that goes around. It's not the most instantly quotable, but there are plenty of legit gems.

Shawn of the dead
Pineapple Express
Superbad
21 jump street
The guard
The heartbreak kid

I love the idea too if they made a sequel where the 6 guys are all at a screening, golden globes type event for "This is the End", and then another apocalypse of a different variant kicks in and kills off a whole other bunch of celebrities. However it wouldn't ever work well, but fun to think about.
>>81474147

My friends are obsessed with the whole Franco/Rogen/Jonah crew and they absolutely hated it.
I haven't seen it, but no one is really convincing me to anyways
>>81487683
It's by far the worst movie I have ever seen in theaters. I didn't laugh or chuckle even once. It's nothing but "animated foods swearing and making racist jokes" for the entire movie.
The premise is also a huge bait-and-switch. The trailers implied it would be about food being taken home only to realize they get eaten, and they have to escape/survive or whatever. But 95% of the movie just takes place in the store with the foods wandering around. I saw it on opening weekend with friends and family, and left mad, which has never happened to me before.

I'd say it had better highs than Borat. The ending was easily better than anything in Borat.

I saw this 3 times.
I liked it even more each time i saw it again, it's genuinely one of my favorite movies of all times.
I understand it's not high art or anything, but for some reason i really love everything about it, it clicks with me, the humor, the look, the atmosphere, the actors used and their performance.

It's simply boring.
It tries to be as edgy as possible and it comes off as clumsy and half assed.
It doesn't have good writing thus it's just a collection of "wouldn't it be edgy if X thing happened?" glued together with very little regards towards making a decent movie.
Like the entire orgy at the end.
You just saw a bunch of food fucking, and also fruits sucking each other off and buttfucking each other.
Ok, cool, now what?
What was the point of that?
It wasn't especially funny or anything, i guess it's novel and different, but what's the point of that if it doesn't engage the viewer with anything else aside "lel food fuck funny joek".

Absolutely terrible. Could have been decent, as the Bruno segment from the Ali G show was equally as good as Borat.

>compared to everything else posted here
What we do in the Shadows and Tropic Thunder are probably the best answers here. But Blades of Glory is rather quotable and has great banter.
Does Edge of Tomorrow count
>>81498043
yeah why are there so many shitty movies in here? dont get me wrong theres some kino but....
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
Tropic Thunder
Hot Rod
This is the End
Superbad
The Hangover (1 only)
Tucker and Dale vs Evil
MacGruber
If you include early 2000s
Anchorman
Super Troopers
Zoolander
Napoleon Dynamite
>>81452102
I just watched Casualties of War (Vietnam movie with Sean Penn and Micheal J Fox) for the first time and holy shit all I could think about was Tropic Thunder.

Comedies are mostly shit, lets be real.
The only vaguely comedy stuff I like these days is Tim & Eric and Lasagnacat.

Unironically this.
Here are a few that stood out to me.
>The good, the bad and the weird.
>In Bruges
>A serious man
>Micmacs (Not as good as delicatessen though)
>Four lions (probably the one that made me laugh the most/hardest on the list)
>Bernie (reshreshingly different performance by Jack Black)
>Seven psychopaths
>Nebraska
>The wolf of wall street (considered this a comedy)
>Dead Snow 2
This whole thread made me go on a day long journey on what makes comedy good
I've gone through several questions; which tv series or film or cartoon executes comedy well, what could be considered the "funniest scenes of all time", what comedy or humor can be spread across all generations and cultures, how to make video games funny etc
Are there funny anime? Is the humor in the dialogue or can expression count as humor? Is satirical humor such as South Park good enough to be considered some of the funniest jokes of all time?
When do people actually laugh at a scene in a movie or joke in a webcomic so hard that they actually kneel over in laughter?
Are all the funniest experiences in our lives with friends and family, something that comedy will never be able to achieve?
Are in jokes the reason why memes are so big?
Too many questions, I need an anon to talk to about this.
>>81498996
What about parodies? Stand up comedy?
Are the best jokes in a place where you don't expect humor, ie dark humor or movies that aren't comedies? Is sarcasm a good sense of humor?
Does music help? Is animation funnier than real actors? Would the best comedy use all techniques of humor?
Fuck I am losing my mind here.
four lions isn't that good people, let it go

>>81452752
He gets two good gags, tied to the tree and his drug induced red carpet exploits, but the rest of the cast just dominates him so I kinda agree
Every scene with Lazarus and Alpa Cino is fantastic but Tom Cruise is GOAT
>>81459287
>>81461157
I will never understand how anyone can think these movies are funny. I never laughed a single time at either.
>>81456163
>Vietnam war flashbacks
>"his little Chinese legs dangling from the ceiling fan of the straw hut" line
Also love the cars getting stuck and other deliberate errors
>>81455061
21 is legit hilarious. The second one was good but was the same thing and far too self referential.
>>81501347
yes you faggot.
>>81452102
remember seeing this with some people 'cause they were always on about how funny it was and so we all went together and at least at that time I had to admit that I thought it was
had so much fun aside from the peoples of colour who were at least twenty times louder than all the rest of us during the film
can't believe how long it's been since then, time really does fly as clichéd as that is to say
better times though, we were all stumbling around laughing our way out of the cinema afterwards
I wish I could go back
