There is literally nothing wrong with analysing the narrative and structure of a story, even if your conclusions are completely different from what the creator intended.
Cancer is buying everything at face value

The narrative of S4 is drastically different from the rest of the series. Perhaps it's only because of new writers or lazy directors. But the overall feel of the show is a lot more lighthearted to the point where it's extreme, even the colour palette is a lot lighter than in prior seasons (some scenes looks like fucking Smallville). And I doubt that it's some random coincidence since the start of the season is so dark and depressing.
