It's the movie that best highlights the US's own nostalgia for the 50s and how the 80s were a reflection of that.

Yes, the 80s really were that good

That movie is ridiculous but that's why it's great
The Thing > Escape from NY > Big Trouble
All three are great, but BTILC is a little too goofy for me.

This movie looked and sounded retarded and then I watched it and it was retarded but really enjoyable.
Kurt Russ is a qt

It's just a dumb, entertaining popcorn flick with no deeper meaning. So yes, very much 80's.

Escape from NY isn't very good
The Thing was definitely the best out of those three.

This is a perfect film. prove me wrong. (You can't)
An awesome movie. From a time when movies could be completely ridiculous and focus on entertaining the viewer, rather than some fucking post-modern social message or guilt trip about slavery or the patriarchy or shit.
To make things worse, they're remaking BTILC. Why? Who the fuck asked for that? It's not like modern cinema will radically change the experience.

This movie was some serious original content in a time where action movies were getting stale as fuck. The effects were great, the acting was spot on, and the story was fucking nuts... and then add Kung fu and you've got a hit.
Comfy thred, lads - who brought the six-demon bag?
I love this movie more than I can say. Its like a live action Coast to Coast AM episode. And as campy as it is it seems like the actors had fun and the movie was given a lot of love.
