>Cast Judge Holden
You can't.
CGI Matthew McGrory
Not anymore
>>81379079
marlon brando's reanimated corpse
>>81379158
Maybe PDL era Hoffman
>>81379079
Ez-pz
>>81379177
was going to post this. Hes already frontrunner if it ever gets made
>>81379079
Not even hard
>>81379271
Holden is supposed to be 6'6 and 270 pounds. Also CGI is cheating.
>>81379177
This tbhfam
>>81379271
this piece of shit doesn't have the charisma to play the Judge
>>81379271
The Judge doesn't have a thick southern accent does he?
>>81379210
The Swede was supposed to basically be the judge right?
>>81379079
>>81379079
John Goodman
Gabourdey Sidibe
Anyone who disagrees, is a racist piece of shit
Since we're talking about BM, is it truly "unfilmable"?
>>81379206
My God.
>>81379079
The only one with acting ability
>>81379271
I'd put him in as Toadvine
>>81379288
If they can make Tom Cruise look taller than 5'2 it shouldn't be too difficult
>>81379324
Maybe not, but you gotta admit the resemblance is uncanny
>>81379362
Ever heard of acting?
>>81379177
this, perfect, he was already cast, for an afternoon, when Franco briefly thought he had the rights a few months ago.
Probably best Franco didnt make the film, but still would have loved to see D'Onofrio's Holden, if a film had to be made.
>>81379177
Further evidence
>>81379455
PTA would do wonders with it
>Stephen King
>Cormac McCarth
Why does reddi/tv/ love pulp and cheap kiosk novels so much?
Do you also like Murakami?
>>81379177
Too fat, not charismatic enough
>>81379511
Come on, you can't sit there and tell me Blood Meridian is overrated. Some things are just objectively amazing.
>You can't....
>I just did
If only he was 30 years younger. Fuck, he would be so good in the role.
>>81379453
Resemblance? Did you read the same book as I did?
>>81379511
>cheap kiosk novels
I'm not sure you know who Cormac McCarthy is.
>>81379538
But it's just kitsch. Genre literature. I wouldn't even call it overrated because the people that rate it are not really that knowledgable about culture to begin with.
>>81379584
to the OP you dolt
>>81379589
He writes cheap novels you buy at airports, usually in the western genre. I read him when I was a wee teenager but really you move on from such petty pulp. Crash is fascinating when you're 14 but not all that when you're older. Same with McCarthy.
>Cornhack McTardplease gets a couple of adaptations of his absolute fucking shit prose
>to this date there are still no adaptations of Robert McCammon's grand epics Swan Song and Carrion Comfort
The world truly is a shit place.
>>81379568
>actor
Jesse Eisenberg, of course. Hollywood!
>>81379593
>Genre media is inherently worse and less serious than ______.
This is pretension.
>>81379568
I mean physically, he literally is the Judge. THIS is what he would look like. If only he could actually act.
>>81379511
>>81379593
>>81379634
Just stop anon, this flimsy bait is going nowhere.
McCarthy is a Pulitzer prize winner and is recognized by critics and academics (aka "people knowledgeable about culture)" as a great American novelist, likely in the top 3 still living.
>>81379568
He's running for office.
>>81379425
Yo, read my mind.
>>81379644
Carrion Comfort is fucking trash.
>a race of beings with powers manipulate humans behind the scenes
>le secret Hitler nazi history xdd
>>81379079
>tfw too dumb to understand that book
>>81379644
Muh Dean Koontz
>>81379746
And yet, it all comes together in a beautiful way that your DNA never did.
>>81379670
Pulitzer prize. Is that impressive to you? I mean in your mind the pulitzer prize is impressive? Why?
>a great American novelist
lol, you new worlders are so good damn cute.
>>81379624
lurk more before you start posting, reddit.
>>81379780
Who is your favorite author?
>>81379079
>>81379453
Ever heard of this actor playing a character that does not have a thick southern drawl?
fuccboi
>>81379815
I don't have a favourite author. My favourite poet is John Keats.
>>81379780
>It's a eurofag pretends his culture has created anything of value within the last hundred years that won't immediately be dismiss out if hand by the current zeitgeist as racist trash written by dead white cis-privileged males.
>>81379998
I do so detest the virus of the american academia. A plague on the whole west.
Always see this thread when I'm rereading blood meridian. Why is it so good bros.
>>81380041
We picked up that particular case of intellectual VD in France.
>>81379158
Holden is tall and imposing, not short and fat
JUDGE HOLDEN IS TO MAGNIFICENT IN ALL HIS GLORY AND SQUALOR TO BE SEEN IN A """""""FILM""""""".
>REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>>/lit/
>>81379407
The density of the prose, and especially Holden's dialogue would be too much to translate to a single film. A trilogy could work, a miniseries would be best. What also makes it unfilmable is that there would be no audience for it. Borderline arcane actions, philosophical ramblings, the extreme settings, and of course the horrific violence (and child rape) on screen would never pass a review board. NC17 at best. A neutered and watered down version at worst.
>>81380209
What about an HBO series?
>>81380239
Enjoy your slow descent into Game of Thrones meats Westworld.
>>81379593
I'm sure you're just being hyperbolic, but Blood Meridian is pretty obviously not genre fiction. The term you're looking for might be entry level
>>81379754
Don't give up. I powered through it the first time, and though some passages resonated I ultimately felt I had just stared at words and periodically turned the pages. I read it a second time and it all started to piece together. I read Notes on Blood Meridian and then read it a third time. It's a different book every time I read it.
>>81380239
HBO would puss out. Any network, studio or director with the balls to stay true to Blood Meridian doesn't have the budget or the pull to do it, and those who do don't have the balls for it.
/unfilmable/ general?
That's easy
Derek Mears
>>81380429
>wtf is this
>search
>"a series of science fantasy novels"
lmao
>>81379079
Also, J.D.Morgan, Ed Harris (if only he was younger) and good half of Alien 3 cast.
>>81380429
>unfilmable
This meme needs to end
Nothing is unfilmable
>>81380110
He's tall and fat.
FUAAARK YOU PLEBS
>>81380682
He's not fat
>>81380618
Film this.
>>81380721
He is fat.
He was even based on a real life shaved, fat man.
>>81380721
He resembles a giant baby. Babies are fat.
>>81380618
unfilmable stuff is just really philosophical stuff where most of the understanding of the characters and philosophy comes from the narration rather than the characters' actions and dialogue. Blood Meridian definitely isn't unfilmable then because almost all of the philosophy comes from the dialogue except for when Mccarthy does his meme descriptions about the landscape being like the breath of a god or whatever.
>>81379079
Just shave his head and he'd be great
>>81379420
Fucking this
Clancy Brown is tall and can be intimidating
All he needs is a shaved head
>>81379079
THE ORIGINAL SHIT CHARACTER
>>81379455
If Franco is allowed around to any McCarthy book it should be Suttree
>dude I get drunk and live on a houseboat even though I am wealthy and privileged and think/know I'm smarter than everyone else lmao
He's perfect for the lead.
He needs to have a childish face you imbeciles. Like a baby. Stop posting these "hard looking" people. He's a giant man with a babyish face.
>>81380697
>>81381209
I could see it, is he really that big though? I know he's got some height to him.
He was terrifying in Carnivale
>>81382501
Yes 6'4
>>81381264
hehe
>>81379177
D'Onofrio could pull this off, his detective Robert Goren is seriously my favorite TV series character
>>81379210
They'll cast him as Chapel the Evergreen in the inevitable Trigun film adaptation, now that Ghost in the Shell opened the floodgates
>>81379079
That picture looks like the dude who played Darlys brother on the Walking dead.
>>81379634
go to bed Nicholas Sparks.
Amy Schumer with a male voice dubbed in
>>81379079
when I read the book I pictured Capt. Glanton as a taciturn Brad Pitt. Brad's too old now (Glanton was 31 when he died). Casey Affleck would be good though.
>>81380498
Book of the New Sun is one of the greatest works of fiction that exists. As someone who doesn't like scifi/fantasy outside of LotR and Gormenghast, I'd say it's in the top 10 of best 20th century written works.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carel_Struycken
>>81384908
Too old
>>81379420
this would be fucking amazing
>>81384384
Fuck, I need to rewatch that. Was my favorite when I was younger.
>>81379420
He stays in character on set.
>other actors and crews face when
The Judge is a massive horse of a man with an unnaturally smooth baby face. He is literally uncastable
>>81380429
It's basically Adventure Time
>>81379079
>Posting fat actors with shaved heads to play Judge
The Judge is supposed to look unworldly as fuck. Heavy makeup and prosthetics would be required.
and as >>81379324 pointed out you'll need to have an actor who can pull of the charisma
Also who would you cast as the other characters?
>The kid played by Asa Butterfield
Would the swinging a baby by the feet and smashing his head open against a rock scene make it in?
>>81379511
>comparing King to McCarthy
>>81387815
yeah why would you compare shit to shit
also >GoT
confirmed fucking pleb faggot kys
>>81387844
>>81387879
must be nice being sub 40 IQ
>>81387911
Resurrect marlon brando
>>81379177
No thanks.
>>81387809
No
Which is why this movie will never be made, and if it does it'll be utter shit
In order for a Blood Meridian movie to work it MUST be rated NC-17
>massacre scene
>retard in river scene
>the judge being naked with the retard and girl
>the ending
Hollywood would never have the balls to film such scenes
Can we all just agree that it should be an hbo mini series tho?
>>81379593
>kitsch
I don't think you know what that means
>>81387993
Only if it's Tommy Lee Jone's accurate screenplay
>he reads cormac mccarthy
>>81388129
Dude the neckbeards just cant help being quiet about McCarthy. Hes too good.
>>81388052
He has a screenplay?
>>81388567
He has a five hour adaptation ready but no studio wants to pick it up because it's too violent
Just writing this because we can't just post images anymore. Faggot gook piece of shit.
>>81390149
>>81379079
A big enough guy to play him doesn't exist.
Best to wait till the tech is there to full CGI it, prob in 15 years we will be there.
>>81380429
Blood Meridian is NOT unfilmable, but it would have to be at least 3 hours long and the casting of Judge has to be perfect
Devin Townsend.
>>81379568
Looks perfect, unfortunately can't act for shit
>>81379079
Probably too old for the role, but still.
