The thing about the show is that it just throws you in without much explanation. You've got a shitload of characters who are quickly introduced and the show expects you to remember who they are. The same with the "world" that the show revolves around for the first season. All of this also gets a lot more complicated as the show progresses, but then you'd hopefully been able to catch up on the older stuff, so it's not as confusing.

Because it is a confusing show for a new viewer. If you've seen Generation Kill, it's pretty much the same thing. How are you supposed to understand all the military speech without any prior knowledge?
