It was all her own fault, wasnt it?

gets drunk and makes out with girl despite open blinds and knowing that a stalker is there.

Witnesses a rape and does nothing.

Goes to the rapists party and undresses, ends up being raped.

Rejects the good guy because reasons.

The other reasons are bullshit
>>

It's never an attractive white woman's fault.

Here's 13 reasons why.

I feel sorry for anyone who's trying to fuck a white bitch that has watched this show or read the book.

That sounds preachy and gay. Thanks for taking the bullet.

i think we all understand ways that women increase their likelihood of getting raped by putting themselves in bad positions. only a rapist crosses the line and causes rape though.

its just a really difficult situation because we all know the weakness and naiveté of young women who sometimes unknowingly do ridiculous things

Young lads, that was some amazing shit when we first saw it. One of the moments that made the internet what it is.

When you watch a show about a girl who faces a whole bunch of problems and it receives critical and audience acclaim, maybe there's some accuracy to its portrayal.
Maybe, as a male, you could take a look at what girls all over the world are saying about these issues and understand that your perspective is unintentionally biased and open your mind a little bit.
Maybe you should also avoid sympathizing with and justifying the actions of an actual rapist until you're confident that you genuinely understand the perspective of the girl in question.
Honestly we're all here for the laffs and the memes but it's just a little worrying when people can watch either of the rape scenes in this show and still believe that the women were at fault
>>
>>81346013
okay what exactly did she say on Prisoners kid's tape? From what i understand the situation was basically
>turn down nice kid she "actually cares about"
>witness rapist raping her friend
>get drunk and have sex with rapist
>feel raped
>nice kid she "actually cares about" comes over, asks what's wrong
>repeatedly screams at him to get the fuck out
>he eventually leaves despite putting in an honest effort to help her
>tape says "why did you leave??? it's your fault!!!"

Am I missing something here?

Apparently there is no amount of irresponsible action that warrants any kind of criticism from someone who is raped.

>>81346763
The show is literally all about a character blaming numerous other people for her suicide, which is straight up abusive shit. Sure, yeah, she can reasonably blame the rapist, but what about the main guy whose only sin was literally leaving when she screamed at him to? And then she says some creepy shit like "You could have tried to save me!" What the fuck?
>>
>>81347002
Yeah she was fucking retarded, still rape tho.

teenagers are stupid and do stupid things all the time. some of these things affect women worse than men, like having sex or getting raped.
>>

>She clearly wasn't drunk even though that's irrelevant anyway
>She tries to get away, literally dragging herself out of the hot tub before being grabbed hard enough to leave bruises and pulled back in
>If you need an explicit "no" to see that she was very uncomfortable and not consenting you may genuinely have some kind of empathy disorder like Asperger's
>Half the point of the show was about explicit consent
>Clay always asked "is this okay?" before doing anything sexual
>Bryce coerced and forced his way into sex
>Clay good, Bryce bad
>Consent good, helps to avoid rape and suicide

When you are in a city you're not familiar with and you wander into a bad neighborhood and get mugged, next time you should find out where the bad streets are and not go down them.

When you leave your keys in the ignition of your unlocked car and it gets stolen, maybe you should remember to bring your keys inside and lock your car.

When your wallet keeps falling out of your pocket, maybe start putting it in a different pocket.

When you get raped, BLAH BLHAB LAH BLAH BLAH VICTIM BLAMING VICTIM BLAMING

The only crime where legitimate preventative actions are completely drowned out and the person suggesting them is labeled a piece of shit victim shamer.
>>

>>
>>81347241
She even says on the tape that he doesn't actually deserve to be on the tapes
>>
>>81347241
Clay's tape wasn't about blaming him, it was about what could have been different. The show is about what can be done to help prevent suicide. Communication is a big part of that. Because of this show, there might be someone out there like Hannah who decides to talk to someone like Clay instead of just pushing them away.
>>
>>81347174
>Just had an awful day where you accidentally lost hundreds of dollars
>decide to go to a party hosted by someone you factually know is a rapist
>get drunk and naked in said rapist's house
>expect him not to do anything bad
This is wrong in so many levels.

If you go to Bill Clinton's house, you can expect people like Bill Clinton to be there, and if you dislike Bill, or he wronged someone and you have seen it happen before your eyes, you probably should not be there.
Switch Bill Clinton with Bryce and tell me it doesn't make sense.

There's another layer here, say we know Bill Clinton is an opportunistic motherfucker, and a skilled scammer at that, to top it all, impulsive. Are you really going to get drunk in front of him and put your wallet on the table?
Let's switch it up a bit, change Bill for Bryce, scam for rape, and 'put wallet on the table' to 'get naked'. Still going to blame only Bill? You literally put bait out there to make him go bad.

I'm not saying what he did was excusable, but I am implying that the victim is not blameless, she could've prevented this, at so many opportunities, that it's impressive many others didn't jump on the chance too.
>>
>>81347227
Recently in the UK we had a woman who was raped agree with the female judge's statement that she was irresponsible and should have been much more careful the night of. Basically she got blackout drunk at a party with a bunch of people she didn't know in an unfamiliar place. The woman who came forward actually waived her right to anonymity to come forward to support the judge.

Both were lambasted in the media. The judge as a victim blamer and the victim as an abuse enabler. This fucking world is fucked.

Oh yeah I forgot, in the UK, total and complete anonymity is provided for the accuser, no matter the outcome of the trial, even if the accused is acquitted, the case collapses or the victim themselves withdraws the complaint. Forever. The accused is listed publicly from accusation. It used to be the case where both were anonymous and if convicted, the rapist was made publicly known. That got changed though. The world is fucked.
>>
>spent loads of time making tapes explaining herself
>didnt have the presence of mind to understand her problems were miniscule
>didnt have the presence of mind to NOT COMMIT SUICIDE
>>
>>81347258
No shit, robbers and rapists and murderers exist and they're not going away. They're pieces of shit and should die. But there are things you can do to help prevent these horrible things from happening to you and in the context of this show, you shouldn't be going to a party hosted by a fucking rapist. If you do, you should be always with at least 1 close friend not in hot tubs by yourself.
>>
>>81347432
Here's the one fact that is relevant: Bryce raped Hannah.
He didn't have to commit the crime, but he did. No amount of "it's muh nature" can excuse that.
Hannah was at a party with her friends. Unless you're a territorial animal like a dog, it's entirely irrelevant that it was at Bryce's house.
Even stripping to her underwear is irrelevant. It was so she could get in the hot tub, not so that she could lure in men. Do you honestly think she went to the party that night and took off her clothes hoping to get sex?

>>
>>81347571
This is some top quality bait, imported straight from a Title IX investigation.

The fact that you say that, removes all the agency the victim had before the crime, and that's untenable.
Also, I said that had many opportunities to prevent this, not that it was her fault.

It infuriates me so much. This bitch expect people to just read minds and shit. Just to intuit that something is wrong. And when people do catch on to something not being okay, she spurns them and blames them all. I hate it when women do that. If you have a problem speak on it.

I can't imagine any boy doing what she did. Okay, to be fair they'd probably shoot up the school instead of kill themselves and blame everyone else for it.

No, I said it was her fault.

She saw him rape someone. She didn't even try to contact the girl he raped. She just went to his party, got raped, let nobody help her, made a bunch of tapes about nobody helping her then killed herself.

The only way this was not her fault was if she had some mental illness, but she wasn't portrayed like she did.

Nice ad hominem.
By removing all agency from the girl you basically turn her into bait for criminals and idealogues.
Exactly what is happening here, you think she's a saint that had no influence on this and that the event would've happened no matter what, and that's wrong, she had knowledge and multiple oportunities to turn around and prevent further damage from being done to herself and others.
Instead, she chose to go to the rapist's house to party nonetheless.
Talk about bad choices.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Son

>In October 2008, Son was charged by California authorities in relation to his participation in a 1990 gang rape. He was initially charged in Orange County, California, with five counts of rape, two felony counts of forcible sodomy, two felony counts of sodomy in concert by force, seven felony counts of forcible oral copulation, and one felony count of sexual penetration by foreign object by force. He faced a maximum sentence of 275 years to life if convicted.[3][9]

Son and an accomplice tortured and repeatedly raped the victim before releasing her with her pants tied around her eyes. During the trial, the woman said that Son told her, "It's Christmas. This is your lucky day." Before jury selection began for his trial in early August 2011, the initial charges against Son were dropped having expired due to the statute of limitations. Son was then charged with conspiracy to commit torture and murder, crimes which have no statute of limitations.[10] In late August, Son was found guilty of one felony count of torture.

How old, senpai?
>>
>>81350277
Two years shy of 30.

Made a thread earlier. Rape is bad, but why the fuck would she go to a known rapist's party and get in a hot tub in her underwear? Some people said Bryce snuck in with her, but I thought he was there all along. Regardless, horrible decisions. Especially to blame a bunch of other kids for your suicide. Way to actually fuck them up mentally for years or life, you cunt.

The only thing the show did well was have teenagers speak like teenagers. They actually said fuck and used the phrase cum dumpster.

Beat ya. 32 wizard.

I met the creator of the show, Brian Yorkey, when I went to interview to be Clay's photo double.

Towards the end of the interview he cracks some cringey joke that gets a few laughs.

To this day I have no idea wtf he was talking about.

Brian: "Whats your name, Angus?"

Me: "Uhh no its anon"

Brian:"Oh anon, right, I'll think of you next time I see an empty chair."

Me: "Okk..."

Does anyone know what the fuck this dude is talking about?
>>
Also what is up with the ending? Is it gonna have a second season or what? Why did they show the photos guy hiding lots of guns

That's the human experience, bud. It's not compassion or empathy or love, it's existential dread.

this whole thread is literally 3 people arguing over the rape thing. and i agree bryce character was portrayed really well as a high school dudebro. besides the horrible rape thing, I don't even think my school had anyone as cool and rich as bryce.

Why would she feel confortable to go at a party in the house of a rapist ? With friend or not.
How could she feel confortable enough to go in the hot tub in underwear at the place where the rapist lives ?
Even if she didn't expect anything bad to happen it was still irresponsible. Even if the rapist did commit a crime, she still lacked some awareness of the situation.
>>
>>81350182
Surprisingly no
The reason it didn't have slow motion or any music wasn't an "artistic choice" either. It's stop romanticizing it, but that still won't work

Man, you're dense. People enabling this guy because of his popularity is what prevent her for telling everyone he's a rapist, being afraid of her reputation if she report a crime is what make her egoist. People being more concerned about the image they have to put to be popular is what cause this guy to do the shits he does, because in his sociopathic way he knows he can get away with it. Avoiding a bad situation at the detriment of her popularity knowing what the person trowing the party could do was the best course of action she could have made, it is a courageous thing to do in a way. Going to it anyway because she wanted to maintain her popularity is weak and a cause of her being the vitcim of the rapist. Like nothing bad in this show could have happen if these teenagers took responsibility for their actions despite what everyone else thinks.
You sound like the kind of person who could endorse nazism in the 30s because of its popularity.

Just finished it, is there gonna be a season 2? I mean I know it's only 1 book or something but they did seemed to set a bunch of shit like the Tyler school shooter subplot as well as the Alex headshotting himself one. I'd also like to see the rest of the trial and Bryce get jailed and/or killed by Justin. Also, That """guidance counselor""" deserves the rope.

That wrist slitting scene was brutal though... holy fuck
>>
do you want to prevent rape or have the moral high ground? sometimes it's better to be safe than right.

>society needs to change

rape will always be around, just as theft, murder, or any other crime will be.

>women aren't objects

your body is an object, protect it. men's bodies are objects too.

>unironically killing yourself because you don't like high school

I don't really think they gave Hannah enough of a believable reason to kill herself but I still really liked the show as a whole.

can't see myself ever rewatching tho
>>
>>81346482
The books a lot better and actually somewhat entertaining. I don't even want to watch the show.
>>
>>81354679
>"I can confidently say that the book is much better than the show"
>Hasn't seen the show
>>
>>81354810
The trailers and what people are saying are enough to figure that out.

Making a show out of the book is a stupid idea. It works much better as a book when you think about the structure of the story.

Girl on the train had the same problem. Much better as a book. Some shit just doesn't translate into being a show
>>
Iwonder how much Jay Asher got paid to let them make some crappy shit out of his book
>>
How violent is the suicide scene?
Is it worth the journey up to it?
>>
>>81355004
>razor in arm and slides down
>pain moans
>blood pours out and hands are shaking as she goes to the next arm
>slide into the sweat release
That's it
>>
Was the main kid still number 9? This is important.
>>
>>81355125
i think he was number 11
>>
>>81355125
is it important though? number 9 is the first rape and 11 is the main kid
>>
>>81355422
No, I was just wondering if they kept it the same. I honestly haven't read the book in years, so he might not of even been number 9 in the book.
>>
Mostly unbelievable garbage with shit dialogue that can hide under the guise of "well you're just underestimating how retarded teenagers are".

Suicide scene was kino though, glad they went balls deep on that. Digs the razor into her left wrist twice holy fuck
