What are the essential elements of a good space show?
I've never seen a space tv show that wasn't a cringy cheesy fedora fest. Yes that includes Star Trek
I think it's impossible to make good sci fi on tv budgets

Is Andromeda really low tier? It's probably the only live action one I watched
>>81341383
It's not good.

Mostly the same every any other show needs. Good single episodes while still having an interesting overarching story. Good cast, empathetic characters.
Then I guess believable system of government and other rules of its' universe.
Mysteries somewhere far away or other secrets are the usual way to keep things fresh.
Then I guess how well those individual things are executed.

Battlestar Galactica and Outlaw Star should switch.
Would throw B5 seasons 1-4 up to God tier.
>>81340196
Wait, do people actually consider Stargate SG-1 God tier?
I caught a couple of episodes and it was an absolute snorefest.
Atlantis should really be high-mid tier or high tier. It had a lot less bad episodes than SG1 and was really fun overall.
Caprica was really disappointing. It started getting good near the end when they dumped all the remaining episodes and cancelled it.

>anime is anything but rancid dog shit tier
>3/4 of God Tier is Cuck Trek
>Redditfly not in garbage tier
TOS is okay but not in the same league as TNG/DS9
Move that shit to Mid tier and put Voyager in Garbage Tier

>Andromeda not on the list
>Andromeda not high or mid-high tier

>cringy cheesy fedora fest
How can you never have seen a sci-fi show based on religion like Battlestar Galactica or Deep Space 9?
>>81341747
It's a really terrible ranking, I don't know why it gets posted so much unless it's just this one guy
>>81341930
Andromeda is on the list.
>>81340196
>Grounded characters who grow over time
>science/technobabble that is at least 10% grounded in reality
>subtlety in the use of metaphors with aliens/ET life
>Bitches with huge floppy tits and bad dancing skills
>spaceships that DO NOT just totally mimic life on a super-idealized ocean-going vessel
Also Voyager should be in Satanically bad tier, and God tier at the same time. Don't ask me why.
>>81340196
Push Farscape up to God Tier and put Red Dwarf in Mid-Tier and it's perfect.
The sci-fi aspect of the show cannot be the gimmick upon which everything relies.
>>81340196
Battlestar Galactica is the best sci-fi show.
If you think otherwise you're a pleb
Virtue signalling in space is not good sci-fi.

>Battlestar Galactica is the best sci-fi show.
So Say We All.
