This movie did not deserve that hate it received. It was probably the best f13 movie. Or maybe 2nd best after part 4 i believe.

Also millennial here, and I think the original is much better than RZ's. I liked it at first when I saw it in theater, and a little after that. But then after while I noticed some things that made me dislike it more. Its still a good watch a guess, if you just want a gory slasher flick. But the thing i liked about the other ones was how they actually felt more scary, and I liked not fully knowing about Mike Myers.

I liked Rob Zombie's Halloween ok, and some of his other movies are decent if not entirely successful most of the time, but the original Halloween is literally one of the greatest horror films ever made, and just a truly excellent film that transcends the genre. I find it hard to believe people can hold the Zombie remake up to that level, which I would argue is more just an example of clever and stylish genre filmmaking. Which, of course, is fine, but does not come close to the original in terms of the scope of its achievement. The directors cut of his second Halloween is, as some other anons have pointed out, quite good, however.

Cape Fear, The Fly, and The Thing are the only choices thus far I might agree with.

I am a total pleb, though, because I would say The Departed, but that's just because I can't into HK cinema.
