/who/ - GOAT, though many prefer RTD, but they still like Capaldi.
tumblr - actually more beloved than you'd think. Anyone who didn't like him just stopped caring about Doctor Who.
reddit - I think that they like him. I don't know, honestly.
General public - Very divided. On Facebook and Instagram it's always very divided. People really like him or say stuff like "I want David back"

Of course, but let's not forget Chales Dance as The Doctor > Charles Dance as The Master.
With a dedicated, serious, quality writer, I could picture Charles Dance as The Doctor giving me goosebumps with an intimidating speech.
That being said, he would be absolutely fucking scary as The Master.
>>
>>81315208
Dylan Moran, Charles Dance, Hayley Atwell, or almost everyone else people suggest on /who/ would be about a hundred times better than Kris Marshall, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, David Harewood, or almost everyone else the rest of the internet seems to want.
>>
>>81315453
I don't know what you've been hearing but Hayley is probably a more popular suggestion than any of those last three people.
>>
>>81315561
Those last three are the ones who had big news stories because they had massive betting runs on them. And at least Kris and Phoebe show up in all those "12 people who we want for the next Doctor" clickbait articles. (Although I haven't seen David in them much.)

Maybe that just means everyone is resigned to it being one of them than wanting one of them, but still, I'm not resigned to any of them.

Yeah, the way S6 fell apart toward the end, and the general vibe of "I am so tired and stressed out" that Moffat was giving out, it did kind of feel like it was taking forever. But that's not exactly a good thing.
>>
>>81316756
Might be the huge amount of stories compared to something like Capaldi's 2-parter run, and the mid-season breaks. You had to wait a long time during Matt Smith's tenure for storylines to get resolved.
>>
>>81316898
Honestly, every year of NuWho feels like it's over in a flash to me. I don't know if that's because of Classic Who doing dozens of episodes per year, or because of Wilderness Who giving me at least one story per month all year round.

Do you guys think that Doctor Who/ Sherlock would've been better under Moffat's tenure if he was focusing on one or the other at a single time, or do you think nothing would've changed?
>>
>>81315025
Actually, Charles Dance would be a GOAT Rassilon.
>>
>>81318009
Doctor Who would have been better. Memelock was never good.
>>
>>81318009
Definitely would have been better.

>Both S6 and S7, he's admitted he was overworked and barely had time to get the scripts done in time. That's surely why they were his two worst finales.
>Trying to get both Doctor Who and Sherlock into the 2016 schedule and find some way to produce both of them, he failed at both and we got a hiatus.
>We don't know why he got all obnoxious and drove away some of his core people, but I'm sure being stressed out from overextending himself didn't help.
>>
>>81318066
Rassilon has never been a great character and will never be a great character. He'd do a good job at it (and be easy to write for), but it would still be a waste of Charles Dance.
>>
>>81318170
Who did he drive away?
>>
>>81318213
Rassilon has always been a great non-character. They should never have brought him to life. It just wasn't needed and he was interesting as a figure of the past.
>>
>>81318009
Should have just combined them into the same show and had Faction Paradox fuckery.
>>
>>81318009
I think Moffat had his cake and ate it too. He should have picked only one. You didn't see old George Martin producing the Beatles reunion in the 1990's. Should have had some pride in the quality of his work and made sacrifice. I can't blame him though. He got a lot more on his resume and probably made a shit load of money.
>>
>>81318794
Three co-executive producers over the span of S6-7.
>>
>>81318905
Yes. Rassilon can work in the background, or in tiny bits in the foreground (like appearing in a couple panels in Alan Moore's comic strip, or a brief flashback scene in a novel). But make him the focus of a story, and even Don Warrington can't make him as interesting as he was in your imagination.
>>
>>81319152
What baffles me is that he must have noticed the problems RTD was having trying to do multiple shows at once.

TW and SJA were closely-related shows in the same universe, and he had people like Chibnall and Ford who were willing to do most of the work while he got the credit, and he still got burnt out trying to do them at the same time as DW.

What made Moffat think he would somehow have more time and energy than RTD, without even RTD's coke to fuel him?

You're talking about the one who left before S5 even started shooting? I don't remember her name.

I was talking about Piers Wenger near the end of S6, Beth Willis at the end of S6, and Caroline Skinner in the middle of S7.

I don't know many details for Wenger and Willis, except that Wenger was still head of BBC Wales Drama when he quit as co-exec, which definitely couldn't have been helpful to Moffat.

Meanwhile, Skinner had some public arguments with Moffat before suddenly announcing, days before S7b started airing, that she was moving up to a better job at BBC London (which turned out not to be true), and they had to scramble to finish the anniversary specials without her.
>>
>>81320327
Dreamland?
>>
>>81320440
Not that anon, but I don't think he'd count Dreamland as a proper Who episode any more than the Adventure Games.

Anyway, last I heard, he was pitching a new sci-fi kids show with Clayton Hickman, with RTD to be involved "in some capacity".
>>
So is this K9/Omega movie really happening? If so, why?
>>
>>81320649
Probably not unless it's a tv only special or direct to DVD. Who the fuck would buy that pitch for anything bigger. As for why, the guy loves money. And using K9 for anything is basically free money.
>>
>>81320727
And if K9 vs. Omega sells, I'm sure he'll be doing K9 vs. the Black Guardian next.

And if Nick Park dies before him, we'll get K9 vs. Wallace & Gromit.
>>
>>81320829
If he were smart he would just sell it all to Disney and cash out
>>
>>81320891
I'm not sure Disney has much use for Omega, the Black Guardian, the Axons, etc. But yeah, they'd probably give him something for K9, and then he could retire, or put his time into trying to revive Sky or something.
>>
>>81312790
>tfw Big Finish beat moffat to the Multi Master story.
>>
>>81321151
Ask Moffat if he's bovvered.

Big Finish beats NuWho to just about every idea. It's like "Simpsons did it", except if Simpsons also had 13 spinoffs and nobody cared what the ratings were for any of them.
>>
>>81320996
>I'm not sure Disney has much use for Omega
Disney don't have the rights to mutants, or any of the alien races the Fantastic Four ever fought.

The only reason they haven't already run out of cosmic villains for the Marvel movies is that they keep reusing Loki.

Omega would fit in perfect, even if his helmet isn't quite as silly as Galactus'.
>>
>>81320996
I'm thinking more in terms of bargaining chips and I think Bob could work out a nice package deal since he would be getting any royalties for that shit anyway. If they could own all of that, the daleks, and anything else in free flow, they could get the rights to some shitty doctor who movies if the bbc wants to use their shit. Honestly, I think Disney will end up owning doctor who itself in the distant future.
>>81321335
I didn't consider this, but it's true that Disney could just throw shit around and use it in their cape movies. I wouldn't be surprised if in the next 100 years the Doctor and spider man will be in the same film. Hopefully the bbc has the dignity to end the show by then.
>>
>>81321825
I was at least mostly joking, but… the DWM comics had the Doctor landing on the Baxter Building in the DWM comics, not to mention the whole Death's Head thing, and then there's Assimilation^2 crossing over the Doctor and the Cybermen with Star Trek in more recent comics, so…

Anyway, I don't think Disney is all that interested in small shit, because going as big as possible is working amazingly for them.

They didn't want to co-own the Star Wars cartoons with Lucasfilm, or make a deal to do more Star Wars stuff at their theme parks; they wanted to
completely own the $1B/movie franchise and the insane merch package that goes with it. And they then scrapped everything that wasn't either directly profitable or a loss leader for the big stuff.

If they can't own Doctor Who (and all the side stuff) outright, the only other thing I could see them being interested in is making a series of massive blockbusters, which they would push so hard that mainstream viewers start thinking of the BBC TV show as a spinoff of their movie series rather than the other way around.

I'm really not in favor of cross gender regenerations but she is the best casted Master since Delgado by far. The only thing I really hate is the Missy game. Here in Texas, that's a female's nickname and comes with a certain connotation that doesn't fit the Master at all and it comes off like total shit.

The impression I got was that Piers Wenger was made a job offer he couldn't refuse by Channel 4. A good career move for him, because he's now BBC's Head of Drama commissioning, considered one of the Beeb's most powerful jobs.

And funnily enough, Beth Willis took over from Piers Wenger as Channel 4's Head of Drama when he went back to the BBC.

Meanwhile, Caro Skinner's career sadly appears to have nosedived.

Yeah, that's pretty stupid of them.

Besides the fact that the very thing they're reporting on makes the rumour obviously untrue, there's also the fact that they're reprinting something that made him so angry at the original magazine that he blasted them on social media and refused to ever do another interview with them again (which he's stuck to).

Have the Sun decided they don't even want to be fake journalists anymore, they want to be shitposting trolls instead, and they're still working out how to do it?

The fact that Wenger left BBC for 4 isn't the part that's odd, it's the fact that he left Doctor Who a few months before he left BBC, while he was still head of BBC Wales Drama. And still, even after that, and after Willis left less than two months after him—and continued working on the Adventure Games but not on the show—people weren't talking.

It was only retroactively, after the Skinner blowout, that people started asking how he'd lost three executive producers in under a year.

(Actually four, if you count… I forget her name, the interim head of Drama who got roped in to replace Skinner for the anniversaries… but I'm pretty sure she wasn't ever supposed to be a permanent replacement.)

Anyway, I don't know how much there is to that talk. But whatever happened with at least Skinner, I'm sure if Moffat hadn't been as obviously stressed out as he was, he could have handled it better.

Ever since RTD, there's been a ritual every so often to get Mark Gattis, John Barrowman, Gareth Roberts, Russell Tovey and Andrew Hayden-Smith and everyone on set has the eat (suck) their cocks for an hour.

Dan Starkey talked about it, he said it was one of the more unpleasant things about the show- and the doctor and companions can choose not to do it. I assume that Jenna tried it once, but didn't like it very much.

"Faggots" the Welsh name for "ducks", of course.

It sucks that, because we've already seen his next incarnation, he can only be brought back in convoluted circumstances. I wish he could've been more regular/long-term, but the fact that it's remotely possible he'll return for even a single episode is huge.

I love how he was defeated in The Last of the Time Lords (Not a fan of imagery they used, but I like the plot, some good twist and trickery)

And I love his portrayal as an Yappi politician who parties hard while ruining everything. This seemed more menacing to me than bearded weirdos and Mary Poppins (And a hungry flying skeleton for that matter). Perfect villain of the modern age.

>The Pilot

>No blurb

>No "In a Nutshell"

The article is mostly Moffat talking about the whole series.

>Smile

>The Doctor takes Bill to a distant planet in the far future, which is home to colonists from Earth. It looks beautiful… but where are all the people?

>The Doctor takes Bill to the colony world Gliese 518 D. It's a bright, sunny world, tended by the tiny bird-like Vardies and their user interface—the Emojibots. There's just one thing missing: the colonists. As the Doctor and Bill investigate, they discover that to keep smiling is their only hope of staying alive…

>Thin Ice

>The Doctor takes Bill on a trip back in time to 1814, where fun can be had at London's frost fair—but danger is lurking under the frozen River Thames.

>4 February 1814, London. The Doctor and Bill chill out at the last great frost fair on the frozen Thames, enjoying the carnival atmosphere and eating pies. But sinister lights are swarming beneath the ice, luring people to their doom in the black depths of the river—and as the Doctor gets on the case, a desperate band of local urchins could provide the clues he needs. Someone powerful and ruthless is plotting to attract as many people to the fair as possible… but why? And what lurks at the bottom of the Thames, waiting implacably for the first ominous cracks in the ice?

More info:

>Doctor has been working as a professor at St. Luke's Uni in Bristol for months, and he has a comfy office with a tin of sonic screwdrivers and pics of River and Susan.
>Bill works in the canteen serving chips.
>Bill gets caught up in whatever the Doctor is investigating.
>The "Friend from the Future" teaser has been worked into the episode, but it's just a brief "side excursion", not part of the main story.
>Nardole is there, but a bit more subdued and backgrounded until episode 5 or 6, to give Bill's story time.
>Moffat is showing us how the Doctor has all these other "little lives going on" that fill up the other 2000 years of his life that we haven't seen on TV.
>It's a "soft reboot" like Eleventh Hour or Rose, but different because Bill is different.
>Bill is sci-fi savvy, but not the kind of person who'll just jump into danger because she's got no life so why not, so she's kind of the anti-Clara.

>The colony in Smile is not far-future, despite the blurb, it's one of the first human colonies.
>The idea is that we send robots ahead of the colonists to build a perfect utopia to be ready for them.
>Then, Mechonoids, basically.
>The emoji thing is because emoji is itself a utopian ideal, that we could actually communicate around language barriers.

>Thin Ice is about why 1814 was the last time the Thames froze.
>The frost fair is interesting because it was spontaneous, so all the classes mixed together.
>She wanted to acknowledge the fact that the Doctor has gone to the 1814 frost fair in offscreen visits mentioned on TV, and in at least one novel and one audio, but her best acknowledgement got cut for time.

Every time he hulks out and back, that uses up another regeneration.

But he has 507 of them.
>>
At least this confirms that the Doctors Trainers account is fake, and therefore his 13th Doctor post is a load of bullshit. (he said it was Susan in the trailer)

Okay, but what about the rest of his family? Not that I'd want to see a face put to them but just odd now that we haven't seen nor heard about them. Again, don't want to but he must have had a whole family.
>>
I'm gonna predict that Moffat will fuck with everyone and reveal Missy as a new Time Lord, and not the Master at all

In the books/audios, he has:

>Brother
Irving Braxiatel (Time Lord) - man does he go off the genocidal edge in Bernice Summerfield and the nice side in the Gallifrey audios
>Great grandson
Alex Campbell (deceased, 7% Gallifreyan)
>Adopted daughter
Minerva Dawkins, daughter of the last Emperor. Who just coincidentally looks a lot like River Song.
>Father
Ulysses Gate (Time Lord)
>Mother
Penelope Gate (Human)

Cousins:
Almund, Arkhew, Celesia, Chovor, Farg, Glospin (shitbag), Innocet (nice), Jobiska, Luton, Maljamin. Rynde, Salpash, Tulgel, Owis (the "replacement"), Kithriarch
Quences (pretty shit desu)

And the show:
Metacrisis, Jenny.
>>
>>81329453

Minerva is also deceased.

>Irving Braxiatel (Time Lord) - man does he go off the genocidal edge in Bernice Summerfield and the nice side in the Gallifrey audios
I loved Bernice Summerfield during Braxiatel Collection time. This whole thing would make a great show, shame it was all audios.

Also Braxiatel made his own cybermen before it was cool.

Irving Braxiatel is the best written Who character in my opinion. Sympathetic, tragic, fucked up, intelligent and machiavellian - all rolled into one.

The fact he's in an episode or the books makes it automatically better.
>>
>>81329453
Miranda, not Minerva.

Also, she is likely either his daughter or a great-great-…-great-granddaughter as well as being his adopted daughter.

Plus, she has a daughter, Zezanne.

Also, when Ulysses and Penelope come up, the first time it's in the middle of the "the Doctor has 17 mutually contradictory pasts and they're all real" phase, and the other two times it's intentionally written to make them just one possibility for the Doctor's ancestry.

Daniel Joyce (who is definitely not Ulysses) is another possible Time Lord father, possibly with an unnamed human wife (not his later human wife Anne).

Of course in Lungbarrow, his parents are Andred and Leela.

Other family from the novels:

>Wife (possibly only while he was the Other)
Patience (pre-Time Lord Gallifreyan, deceased, and his memories of her tampered with)
>Children
13 unnamed children with Patience (all killed early, but the oldest sired Susan before he died)
>Possible secret half-brother
The Master
>?
Mr. Saldaamir, possibly secretly related to Ulysses in some unspecified way, but then again maybe not
>>
>>81329672
Yeah it's Miranda. For some reason I have the Romans stuck in my mind.
And she's definitely his actual daughter.

You're right about Patience. I keep thinking she appeared also in the Infinity Doctors but I may have misremembered.
>>
>>81329672
Oh, and of course if Miranda is his daughter, then he has another wife as the Emperor, an unnamed Klade woman. But that's in a personal future he never reached before it was undone, so he wouldn't have any memories of her.

And of course he's actually Soul of the Council of Eight, not a Time Lord or the Other, meaning he's really a crystalline entity with no parents.
>>
What the fuck, the Needle was actually Savar's TARDIS?
Guess that makes it even more likely that Miranda is the Doctor's direct daughter.

She doesn't spend lots of time lusting after timedick, so she's much better.
>>

According to Lance Parkin, he deliberately didn't decide whether the Emperor is the Eighth Doctor, a later Doctor, or not the Doctor at all but a distant descendant of his.

>You're right about Patience. I keep thinking she appeared also in the Infinity Doctors but I may have misremembered.
Yes, she did appear there, and she's also probably the Doctor's wife. But the circumstances are different.

The funny thing is Miranda looks almost exactly like River. They've even got the same curls.

It's mindblowing.
>>
kek, adam orford even found his way into the DWM letters page
>>
>>81329998
It's odd that in the novels she's described repeatedly as looking like Jodie Foster, but in the comic she looks nothing like Jodie—and yeah, a lot like River in some of the frames. Although she's not drawn all that consistently.

Want some silly headcanon?

1. The Doctor doesn't really have five wives, only three, because River somehow becomes Patience at one end of time and the Empress at the other.

OR

2. Why can't Eight go to the Needle? Because it's not connected to the part of history he's living in. Because the Emperor is the great*-grandson or Twelve and River, and there's a whole restoration of the Web of Time and another Time War with a Time Lock on it and so on in between Eight and Twelve.

Does the Doctor ever jack himself off? If so, how does he manage to get away with it depending on the situation?
>>
Can a classic whovian answer a question for me.

Has the beginning of The Master/The Doctor's enemy relationship ever been shown? As I understand it in his first appearance The Master is already implied to have history with The Doctor.

I feel like if we're getting a multi-master story then the origin of their enmity will be 'revealed', one last part of the canon for Moffat to claim for himself.

The mind bending spoiler was which Moffat teased.

Michelle Gomez in a TARDIS-esque room (talking to somebody off screen): "It's bonkers, he still believes that I am The Master. Foolish Doctor, so trusting, never even thinking of asking for proof of I.D"

Camera pans round console room slowly, Gomez still talking (now off screen)

Gomez: "it never even entered his head that I; The Rani, could be lying to him... Why would he trust your word so much!?"

Close up of a chained up and bruised Simm on the ground.

Incredible. I feel really bad for 5 though when he has to travel with Adric, Tegan, Nyasia, etc. It's gotta be real difficult to unleash the cum of rassilon with all of those people around on different sleep schedules. The wank room is surely sound proof though.

I think Time Lords would be really into deep insertion porn. Due to the whole 'bigger on the inside' thing.

Do you guys think that the Doctor ever has secret multi Doctor episodes in which is jerks off past and future incarnations of himself in the wank room? Do you think that he ever combines the cum of multiple incarnations together to make a sort of cum elixir to mix in with his companions' food in secret? Is it gay if the Doctor blows another incarnation of himself or is it cool and does it still count as jerking off?
>>
>>81330299
From the TV show, all we know is that they were friends as kids, and then the Master went crazy and they ended up as enemies.

Beyond that, there's a lot more information, but it's all pretty contradictory. The relevant stories (that I can remember) are:

>Master (audio)
>Tomb of Valdemar (novel), plus Nameless CIty and Divided Loyalties
>Survival (extra background in the novelisation of the TV story)
>Time and Relative (Telos novella)
>Radio Times short story that I forget the name of
>The Dark Path (novel)
>Eight/Izzy comics
>>
>>81330376
>you forgot the part where Omega's face appears on one of the screens and laughs ominously
And episode 12 ends with:
>The story will continue…
>In K9 Timequake, coming to cinemas near you this November.
>>
>>81330580
It still counts as jerking off desu
Even if it was a male doctor incarnation and a female doctor incarnation partaking in penis-vagina intercourse, it's still masturbation
>>
>>81330487
The Doctor obviously inherited a taste for bestiality from his father, what with him being half-human on his mother's side.

And when 14 Doctors and 9 Corsairs get together, it's not an orgy, just vanilla sex. (Albeit vanilla gay sex if neither of them brings a female incarnation.)

Theoretically speaking, would it be possible for the Doctor to use the tardis to freeze his companions while they sleep and fondle their breasts and wipe/spray his white guardian all over them?

>The Daily Dot writer Gavia Baker-Whitelaw gave the first few episodes a negative review stating "Unless you’re completely new to supernatural teen dramas, Class will seem hopelessly formulaic. In the first two episodes, it offers nothing we haven't already seen in Buffy, Teen Wolf, or Smallville. The comparisons to Buffy are especially unflattering because Class displays none of its subversiveness or wit, and Buffy was already playing with old tropes when it premiered almost 20 years ago." She goes on to say that despite the show's high-profile link to Doctor Who, "It's just too bad it doesn't live up to the hype, failing to move beyond a watered-down Joss Whedon structure or exhibit fresh insight into young adult life. With so many brilliant teen dramas already available elsewhere, it’s hard to see what Class has to offer unless it drastically improves in later episodes."
>>
>>81330766
Hey, maybe there are millions of Americans who are casual Doctor Who fans and like teen drama but have never seen a teen drama, so Class will be saved. Strictly speaking, nothing is actually impossible.

And also, maybe JFK faked his own death and has been hiding as Mr. T all this time.

Keep dreaming, P.Ness.
