For people worried about science in Frank Cottrell Boyce's new episode, his episode was inspired & developed by conversations with 2 prominent scientists, Professor Tim O'Brien at Jodrell Bank, who gave him information about how man will colonise planets, and Professor Andrew Vardy of Canada, an expert in bio-inspired robotics.

It also seems that this episode explores FCB's uniquely hopeful & wonder-filled view of life (as seen in Millions, & his Olympic ceremony, amongst many other works)
He talks about how there have been too many dystopias in fiction, and that his episode instead looks at a Utopia, it celebrates the good that mankind is capable of doing. He gets all enthusiastic about emojis as a funny universal language. As he says "You're in Frank Land now"
He also talks about how the Doctor & Bill have a teacher/pupil relationship but one with it's own tenderness. I think it'll be nice to have some warmth & hope in Doctor Who again.
