Anyone else hate cinematic universes now? Instead of focusing on 1 film to make sure it has great script writing, great likeable characters, good practicals and decent CGI - all of this is rushed to make way for the sequel and then the sequel after that.

Batman V Superman proved this and so did Kong: Skull Island. Both of these I found to be extremely mediocre with a lot of rushing to make way for the next film (did we really need that sudden end credits scene of Godzilla at the end of Kong: Skull Island that spent 1 minute showing pictures of Godzilla then a roar as it cuts to a black screen to remind everyone to go and see the sequel).

An article says it best here:
>Everything feels rushed, everything feels redundant and the state of cinema is worse because of it.

>Studios, you don’t need to build a cinematic universe because everyone else is, and you don’t need to do it for every single movie you decide to release. We need to get back to worrying about making fantastic movies, one at a time, before worrying about whether or not a film will make enough money at the box office to warrant a sequel. Movies have to make a profit, of course, but just because we’re focusing on the business doesn’t mean we need to lose sight of the art. If a cinematic universe is going to turn your studio into a punchline during water cooler conversations, it might be better to start worrying about making good movies than making an entire universe of mediocre ones.

>Why would you want to be remembered for making five terrible, heavily mocked movies instead of one outstanding film? Answer? You wouldn’t.

Sony's Venom movie gives me hope with getting a movie set in the world of Spiderman that isn't connected to the MCU with having to worry about characters bumping into the Avengers. Spiderman to me only works well if it is set in an own personal universe like the Raimi and Webb movies were.

>Tony Stark giving Spiderman a suit he made for him
Absolutely horrible

Really? That's the response I get for actually trying to contribute a film related discussion on what is damaging films in Hollywood?

A good post is not just determined by the quality of it's content. Nobody likes cinematic universes because it's just another lazy way to make rehashes of the same IPs over and over again. Everybody knows this, so there is nothing to discuss. Ergo, your thread dies or get shit replies.

You must learn to carefully intermingle your honest opinion and arguments with bait. People will take the bait, which will spark discussion of both your bait and your actual point.

Don't worry Redditor, you'll got gud soon.

you should stop watching capeshit

Get out while you still can. This place is absolute shit and no matter how many high quality threads you try to put up you will always have anons like that dragging it down.

what about Reddit? People don't like your opinion and your comment disappears doiwn the page because it has been downvoted so much.

There hardly is any place anymore for good movie discussion about stuff like this to improve the industry.

Cinematic universes are basically like Comic book crossovers/universes. If it works so well for comics why can't it work for movies?
>>
yeah comic book movies should be succinct self contained narratives just like the comic books their derived from wait they're old as fuck and they'll continue to milk them for the next century just don't watch gay superhero flicks kiddo

>"wow, that's a lot of downvotes, guess the shills are out full force today"
>get a million upvotes
I don't even have a Reddit account but it can't be that hard, right?

Reddit has a lot of pleb normies so they wont upvote that

yes they fucking kill creativity.

Only way out is to wait for the current corporations to die. Probably sometime in our lifetime. I'm guessing in like 30 years.

Cinematic universes aren't the problem, franchising is. Connecting stories in ancillary ways is in no way the same as repackaging the same story over and over again.
>>
All the hype goes into the build up so the actual film itself feels incredibly underwhelming, all they care about really is advertisement.
