Why don't these shows hire some gray hat hacker to consult and stop them from sounding retarded?
>>
>>81286655
Exactly... They sell her as this quirky SORANDOM tard character and it just doesn't work at all. At least not for the amount of screen time she gets.
>>81286744
This is another problem I have with her. The whole thing with Gibbs is just unrealistic and stupid. It's super unprofessional and just pulls me right out of the show every single time she starts that shit. Which at some point became every episode.
>>81287937
I dropped the show before whatever Tiva is. I assume that Tony and Ziva got together at some point? I thought after The Frog episodes that the show jumped the shark and as never as good again. That whole storyline was kino and Ziva was awesome during that. The minute that concluded I watched maybe two episodes and realized the quality had tanked. That combined with more Abby screen time and I dropped the show.

They had sex once off screen right before she left the show.

We find this out 6 years later when she's killed off screen when terrorists blow up her house in Israel, and it turns out Tony has a daughter he never knew about who now has to live with him.

Why do americans do this? It's like they choose the most goofy looking thing and put it on screen. Why don't they just ask any of the tech retards working the editing of the show if it looks alright?

At least in Europe they have some taste and don't put this cartoon shit in their shows.
>>
>>81288807
They actually chose that girl (I can't fucking stand her so I'm not defending it) because that was her job in real life. The job her character does was what she did prior to the show. I think she sucks and is ugly, but it's accurate at the very least.

Plus, English folks are just as bad as Americans about putting disgustingly ugly people on TV. I watch American and English television and both have some hideous motherfuckers in front of the camera. Not sure where you're from, but if it's England, you have no room to talk.

Collective expectations

Same reason they use the same coconut banging together noise for horses hooves still despite it sounding nothing like horses hooves. People see horses and expect to hear that noise, using something else makes people notice the hoof sounds and breaks immersion.

People see hackers and they expect to see matrix code, people rapidly mashing their keyboards and people stood around looking nervous.

>>
>>81288896
Ah, I took it wrong then. Not sure what European shows do different in that regard either. Hacking always looks goofy and wrong on TV. Mainly because programming is boring as fuck in real life. Imagine someone brute forcing a password on TV... that'd be ridiculous. I get why they just tap some keys and, "I'm in".

I think the worst offender there is Criminal Minds. That fat blonde girl does ridiculous and sometimes impossible things just on the spot. Not to mention everyone is just fine with the cops using highly illegal methods to catch criminals.
>>
>>81288807

I fucking hate that fat piece of shit. It's been a while since I sat through a Criminal Minds episode so it's hard for me to describe but she just makes me mad. Something about the fat + glasses and makeup.
>>
>>81288987
Yeah, that's a bigger problem for me than the unrealistic programming. Like I said, that shit is boring as fuckin real life so I get why they do it the way they do. There is zero excuse for the dumb shit they do that would completely fuck their case in real life. That takes me out of the show anytime that shit happens on any show.

I know that agencies do that sort of thing but on Criminal Minds and NCIS they acft like this shit will hold up in court or that it matters that they found this stuff. In real life, that shit wouldn't fly at all. They'd be basically letting the bad guy go. Illegally obtaining evidence is no joke and one of the ways you can actually get out of a crime. A lot of illegal shit cops do they can get away with, that sort of thing wouldn't be one of them. It happens constantly on these shows too. Not even just hacking, they'll flat out break into someone's house to obtain evidence. My suspension of disbelief dies immediately at that point.

It was Law & Order SJW. The guy had a replica of an IRL house in second life and tey used that to find the girl he was keeping prisoner.

They had the owner of second life in front of this cinema-size computer monitor, arguing with the police about whether it was ok to change the game's internal clock to make the sun come up - which was necessary to identify where the house was in-game apparently.

I understand that. Like I said, when they're to represent getting a password or breaking into a protected area, I get why they show it the way they do. That's a long process that is fairly boring even if you're the one doing it. It's mostly waiting.
When they try to represent coding or programming like you're talking about... yeah, that shit is inexcusable. How hard would it be to just pay some guy to write a realistic looking code for them to show onscreen? I never get why they just have some writer or whoever the fuck read a wikipedia article about the thing they're trying to represent then have this 10 mins of "knowledge" represented on the show with unrealistic, ugly, shit that would never work coding.
Hell, I only have a very basic understanding of this stuff and whenever I see it on shows even I'm just blown away by how inaccurate it is. I couldn't imagine if you're some awesome programmer how fucking awful that must look. It's just inexcusable. They could get realistic code for cheap or for nothing, really. A quick google search and a copy/paste would be more believable and at least somewhat accurate.

What the actual fuck? I didn't watch it at first then saw your comment so I had to see if you were being serious. I can't fucking believe no one said anything there.

Can you imagine the amount of coordination it would take to do use half of a keyboard while someone uses the other half? That's almost like a fucking magic trick. You'd have to rehearse and practice that forever to just type sentences, let alone to code or program. It's like they're sharing a fucking hivemind or something.

This is easily the worst representation of not only programming, but computer use as a whole. That's literally not possible. Any idiot who's ever used a typewriter would know that so this is truly unforgivable. It isn't some complex coding or something that they got wrong. They represented fucking typing in an incredibly unrealistic and impossible manner. That's literally something that's been around since like 1880. No excuse for that. I'm just blown away here.

>>
>>81289723
Yeah I'm just at a loss, anon. It's mindblowing to think about this shit. The more you think about it, the crazier it becomes.

Here are a few things that keep popping up for me when I think about it.

People that were in James A. Garfield's administration would've found it just as unbelievable as me and you.

People that witnessed Abraham Lincoln's assassination would, less than a decade after the fact, know that this was impossible bullshit.

People that had never drank Coca-Cola, due to it not existing yet, would've laughed at that scene.

Mark Twain would've had a better knowledge of how to use that high tech keyboard than the fools who directed that scene.

I mean damn, it's so crazy to think they fucked up something THAT old. I said 1880 before, the QWERTY layout was invented in the early 1970s and was widely used and popular by 1878. That's so crazy that they thought that was ok to film and did so seriously.
>>
>>81289894
Obviously I meant early 1970s. Either way, by 1878 everyone who was typing was using the QWERTY layout. Not like any other layout would make that shit more possible so I suppose you could go all the way back to keyboards in general. That would date to the very early 1800's, maybe even late 1700's. Absolutely insane that they showed that seriously.

>reddit blog post incoming

Yep, I figured that was it. I wouldn't say I'm a redditor, I just try to separate shit if it looks jammed together. Been on here since the Boxxy stuff so I'm an oldschool newfag. I have used Reddit a bit too though. Mainly the Tom Hardy AMA where he was a big guy for us.
Reddit wasn't all that bad in the beginning either. I remember a lot of folks from the chans, especially /tv/, would cross post. It was only after a year or two that it went to shit. Originally it was like a chan full of tripfags, which is terrible, but still much better than it's current form.

Watch that reddit shit though anon or I swear to god me and Jessi Slaughter's father are gonna backtrace you by dual keyboarding. You dun goofed once, don't do it again.

In 12 Angry Men, there is literally no way the jury should have come up with a Not Guilty finding

It's not the jury's job to poke holes in the prosecution's arguments. Maybe there are damn good reasons the defense didn't make the same arguments.
>oh muh old man has a hobble he couldn't be fast enough
>turns out he rolled his ankle yesterday and normally he's faster than most men half his age

>oh muh woman wears glasses
>she actually works in a lab and wears safety glasses nearly all the time, actually

Not to mention in To Kill A Mockingbird the entire defense argument is "yeah my client is totally guilty of murder, but the victims were assholes!" which is definitely not an actual legal defense for murder

Do either of you remember what the trial was actually about? A black guy is accused of attacking a white woman and it's made obvious that he was physically incapable of doing it. But he gets convicted because he's black. It's also made blatantly go that the girl's father was the one who actually attacked her.

I liked Bones for the most part but everything about Angela pissed me off. She was an artist on the street who helped Bones with facial reconstructions but then somehow out of nowhere, the most genius software programmer of all time, despite it being her minor, and gets unlimited funding to perfect a hologram that has a database of every object on Earth. Plus it can completely recreate crime scenes with full on physics simulations. Oh and she's also a completely competent hacker to boot.
>>
>>81300407
Yes I do

You know the announcers between shows who say what's coming up on the station later? In the UK, over 30 have been fired this decade because they compete for who can swear the most without getting caught.
