GOAT story, GOAT three-parter. I don't care if Dobby Doctor looks silly or if the Archangel Network ending isn't feasible to you. This is a FUN story and better than anything Moffat's written in years.
>>
I like this meme solely because it triggers RTDfags every time it's brought up. Some guy posted it like 5 times last thread and each time i sparked a Moff/RTD argument or gave fuel to one that was alrwady going on.

I take it back. It's better than anything he's written in years save Heaven Sent.

But don't act like Heaven Sent wasn't ruined by its successor. If you take Face the Raven and the next two as a three-parter, then Utopia/SoD/Last of the Time Lords is superior.

I'll only be okay with a new Doctor if it's Ruth Bradley
I've warmed to Phoebe Waller Bridge now that I've started watching Fleabag though. Weirdly I just can't think of a man I'd want for the role - I don't particularly care if they're a man or a woman, I'm just really not enthused by the Kris Marshall or Andrew Buchan suggestions. Alfred Enoch, maybe, but his voice is extremely posh.
>>
>>81268168
>Weirdly I just can't think of a man I'd want for the role
Honestly, I can't think of anyone right now. Maybe I've just grown tired of Doctor Who but 12 actors in and I feel like it's all just been done. Okay, a woman or a black dude would shake up the diversity but still, ultimately /shrug/

I just want someone who'll commit to being the Doctor for 3 years but who'll also get a series made every year. Seems that's been too much to ask since Tennant left.
>>

The novel is a satire of the Gothic novels popular at the time of its first writing in 1798–99. The heroine, Catherine, thinks life is like a Gothic novel, but her real experiences bring her down to earth as an ordinary young woman.

Austen first titled it Susan, when she sold it in 1803 for £10 to a London bookseller, Crosby & Co., who decided against publishing. In the spring of 1816, the bookseller sold it back to the novelist's brother, Henry Austen, for the same sum, as the bookseller did not know that the writer was by then the author of four popular novels. She further revised the novel in 1816-1817, with the intention of having it published. The lead character's name was changed from Susan to Catherine, and Austen changed the working title to Catherine.

Austen died in July 1817.

"At the end of the episode there will be yet another awesome trailer for Doctor Who... at the very end of the trailer there is, frankly, an enormous spoiler, a spoiler that may actually melt your brains. But I promise you, you'd be better off not knowing because awesome though it will be here, it will be even more awesome in a few weeks' time. So we're gonna give you the option, in our frankly camp and ridiculous way...
"There will come up a warning and then there will be a countdown to the spoiler, and then there will be a warning to 'blink now'. If at that point you close your eyes and wait until you hear the cliffhanger noise, you will have a better experience in a few weeks’ time."
So there you have it, warning delivered. And, yes, I am reliably informed that the same countdown will appear in the trailer when it airs on BBC1 on 15th April after the first episode.

The Monks badly injure the Doctor in Episode 8. He starts to regenerate, but holds it off. The Monks and their Memory police soldiers surround the Doctor. Missy then arrives in her Tardis followed by hundreds of other Tardise's who surround bills university, the Time Lord General steps out of the Missy's Tardis and dozens of Gallifreyan soldiers come pouring out surrounding the Monks and and Memory police.

The Monks are ancient Gallifreyans, remnants from a long forgotten war, thus the Time Lords once informed by Missy of their nature felt the responsibility to interfere.

Whatever it is, it's not exactly going to be shown for very long since it's a trailer, so its importance has to be easily recognisable. Quite possibly something we can decipher just from looking at it or hearing a very brief few words.

This whole spoiler obsession that RTD and Moffat have fomented is stupid.

The only stories that are actually "spoiled" by knowing a secret are Shyamalan-tier twist stories, where the secret twist is the only interesting bit. And there are few if any Doctor Who stories like that.

Actual good stories are still actual good stories when you know the secret. That's why we can rewatch them and still enjoy them.

She’s a character who knows her way around sci-fi – she tells us herself – and that means she and the story can take a few slightly different ways around things. Moffat's offering no retread of companions past here either, even as he gets through her introduction to the Doctor's world.

Bill’s character is, in many ways, fresh and different. She’s a mixed race foster child who’s still living with her white foster mother (who in turn doesn’t seem to have the greatest grasp of her own personal life) and working in the canteen of the fictional St Luke’s, Bristol University – which is actually filmed at Cardiff University. This all makes a nice change in a British drama landscape so often filled with the middle class.

CAPALDI CONFIRMED THE NEXT DOCTOR IS A WOMEN
>>
http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2017-04-04/theres-a-surprise-so-big-in-the-new-series-of-doctor-who-that-it-comes-with-a-countdown

It's a countdown of 13, by the way.

Make of that what you will.

GUYS BILL WAS HOLDING A COPY OF NORTHAGER ABBEY BY JANE AUSTEN AND AUSTEN ORIGINALLY WANTED TO TITLE IT

"Susan"

It's definitely gotta be a Someone

Someone fans and normal people would recognise

Some new Bill quotes
>>
>>81273734
Moffat said it was a spoiler that will melt your brains and will be made more awesome by waiting for the episode.
'The 13th Doctor exists, here is his eyeball' is not that. Now thank you for playing
>>
>>81273734
Why would Capaldi have said the next Doctor could be a woman to an audience that apparently just saw Andrew Buchan as the 13th Doctor?
>>
>>81273833
I have ptsd from that episode.
>>
>>81273734
Very unlikely. That wouldn't get people hype for series 10.
>>
>>81273816
HOLY FUCK
ITS HAPPENING!!!
>>
>>81273838
>>81273856
And Susan would?

Everyone in the UK knows who Andrew Buchan is from Broadchurch.
>>
>>81273816
>The lead character's name was changed from Susan to Catherine, and Austen changed the working title to Catherine.

OH SHIIITTT
>>
My guess:

A young woman we don't recognise looks at the Doctor. "Grandfather, I'm back."
>>
>>81273894
>Everyone in the UK knows who Andrew Buchan is from Broadchurch.
Would everyone recognise him from just his fucking eyes

Also, it'd be VERY Moffat to completely mislead people. Stick some eyes in there, Capaldi voiceover "my time is running out", then it turns out the two are unrelated
>>
Spoilerhounds saying the final shot of this new trailer is a shot of Capaldi's eyes morphing into the new Doctor's and he's a "recognizable face"

Note: "he"

Sooooooo... new Doctor episode at Christmas then?

ALERT ALERT

ANDREW BUCHAN IS THE 13TH DOCTOR AND HE APPEARS IN EPISODE 1
>>
>>81273951
>Spoilerhounds
You're not a spoilerhound anon.
>>
>>81273935
"..You."
"What took you so long, old man?"
>>
>>81273894
My point is that revealing the new Doctor is not contingent on any story details, it's not actually a twist in the narrative of the series to go 'it's Andrew Buchan!' It also doesn't 'fill in a gap in Time Lord history' as RT put it, now whoever's spamming the 13 thing can you cut it out
>>
Andrew Buchan supposedly chained in the university basement in episode 1 and revealed at the end of the episode - 12 is keeping 13 prisoner for some reason
>>
>More than anything, Bill reminds me of Billie Piper’s Rose Tyler back when the series was first rebooted in 2005 (and this might not be a coincidence given that Mackie’s character is rumoured to have been named after the original New Who companion) – a sweet young woman pottering along in a mundane and dreary life whose curiosity and intelligence inspire a strange man with a time machine to take her on adventures – and frankly, it’s just good fun to watch.

>Sure, Bill’s not perfect. Some of her dialogue is still a bit cheesy, her home life isn’t that sketched out yet and the traditional Doctor-companion introductory banter is starting to lose its charm (yes, there’s another variation on someone not-quite-saying “It’s bigger on the inside!”). But she’s a great addition to the series, and I’m happy to report that fellow doubters should give Bill a second chance.

>Maybe last May I judged Bill too quickly based on limited evidence, or perhaps the ensuing months have allowed cast and crew to get a better grasp on the character (notably, the preview scene that introduced her character is significantly cut down in the finished episode, eliminating some of the more jarring one-liners).

A new regeneration of Susan hits literally all the boxes.

Fills in Time Lord history - we find out what's been going on with Susan since they separated

New - new incarnation of her

Big - she's the Doctor's granddaughter, for actual real this time, you can hype that up very easily

The brain melting spoiler/squee/etc. aspect is self-explanatory

What I genuinely don't get is... okay, so there's a big spoiler which Moffat said is probably best avoided until later in the series, or TX at least. Therefore why not just leave it out of the screening preview, to completely avoid any leaks. Show it exclusively, and first, on April 15th, no?

Matt Smith said 'then we come back to film Series 8' literally a week or two before they announced he was leaving. Things change. People lie or change their mind. For all we know, the "things end, and that's good" line from Mysterio was a wink because Moff knew Capaldi would soon be leaving.
>>
"Things change, and end. But things also start fresh."
>>
>>81274280
He's not leaving, it's just a meme.

It wouldn't have the same impact if it wasn't the original susan.
>>
>>81273992
>Andrew Buchan is 13
>white guy

thank fuck. I have no problem with a female or non-white actor playing the Doctor, but I know that since we'd have the first female Doctor or the first black Doctor that's what anyone would care about, rather than the actor or the character. And I'm talking about people for and against it. It'd end up being bigger than the actual show, and I have such low expectations of Chibnall's first season I don't want the added layer of the Doctor being played by a new type of actor being centerstage when really it shouldn't matter at all.

Tbh I wish one of the earlier regenerations was into a woman so we could get it out of the way and it wouldn't be a big deal anymore, but the longer it goes on the more pressure there is for the next one. Does that make sense?
>>
>>81274122
It wouldn't have the same impact if it wasn't Carole Ann Ford. Susan is likely to appear late in the series, but she won't be the big trailer spoiler imo. It will be John Simm.
>>
>>81274785
No, it would have a bigger impact because there would be a shitstorm over her having regenerated and essentially added a radical new chapter to lore. It would also excite people more than an infirm old woman in the same scenario
>>
>>81274846
Oh my god did you really decide to pretend to believe a blatant bait post about Buchan just so you had an excuse to write this out like anyone cares or hasn't read the same shit a hundred times?
