Who thought this character was a good idea? I really enjoy Enterprise for the most part, the concept is cool and most of the cast is pretty good, but then they have to make it so half of each episode is just a closeup of this stupid bitch making that stupid constipated face.
>>
>>81258442
7of9 was the only thing people liked about Voyager so they thought they'd add another 'all tits and no substance' character to Star Trek to keep it from failing horrendously.

It didn't work.

I still fapped to her.
>>
>>81259541
>so they thought they'd add another 'all tits and no substance' character

Seven did have substance, though.
>>
>>81258442
she should be more vulcan and less human
she's too emotional, eventhough it should be restricted to some occasional, important moments
>>
T'Pol is one of the better characters on Enterprise, and I say this as someone who actually liked Enterprise.

I think I am going to give Enterprise a shot, I hear polarizing opinions on here. Some people hate it to death, some people say its the best series. I just gotta judge for myself.
>>
>>81258442
T'Pol was alright. The two worst characters were the black guy and the british guy. Black guy was just boring and the british guy was weirdly all over the place in terms of characterization, seemed like every other week he switched from cool and competent to kind of autistic.
>>
>>81258442

Enterprise fucked up Vulcans instead of doing them justice
>>
>>81259976
it has constant ups and downs throughout to the end, some people will tell you that S3 and 4 get a lot better etc. but that's bullshit

but the series as a whole is okay for the most part
>>
>>81258442
Personally I liked T'pol. A good excuse to give some more characterization to the Vulcans. I liked watching her come to a begrudging respect of humanity that developed into a genuine friendship.

I didn't hate the blatant fanservice either.
>>
>>81259646
It was going to be revealed in season 5 that she is half Romulan or something. There were a few hints in season 4 leading up to it but I forgot them.

What really sucked about ENT is it happens like 100 years before the other treks and in Vulcan society mind melds and people who do them are an insidious cult to the gov't. By the other treks Spock is mind melding with rocks and shit. It was just a strange juxtaposition.
>>
post the T'pol picture

you know the one
>>
>>81258442
T'Pol was great, but her makeup/hair/appearance was bad in the first couple of seasons.
>>
>>81260361
>>
>>81260228
>Let me tell you something Spock... We're all human
>I find that... Insulting.
No it didn't. Vulcans were always kind of portrayed as smug dicks that were got taken down a peg or two by human bantz.
>>
>>81260360
The end of the vulcan arc where archer uncovers the romulan coup and delivers Sarak's katra was the point where the vulcans began to change to the race we saw in TOS, and explains their friendship with humanity.

>>

>>
>>81260944
They never give him anything to do outside of a few episodes. But I liked the little bit of characterization they do give him. I like the idea of a spacer in star fleet. It always seems like the human characters, besides Rapegangs were always from earth. I wanted to see more humans not from earth.

Not really, as bad as the finale is, its much more a disservice to the actual show than to the fans. It was a shitty attempt to get ratings by inserting TNG fanservice that comes across as pretty disrespectful to Enterprise.

I always thought it was bizarre that they'd put an NCO in that position. Even if you try to explain it away as Miles being one of the few people in Starfleet who could keep DS9 running they still would have offered him a commission as a non line officer. Really though its just because the audience liked him and he is literally the only noteworthy enlisted character in the whole franchise.

that's true, and i never understood why since officers in the military are on average some of the biggest faggots on earth. NCO's are usually way more interesting.

Its fine. Its not like he's maintaining a warp drive or anything. He's mostly doing maintenance and upkeep.
The thing that always bugged me was why they made him chief engineer of the Defiant. Shit it always seemed horribly irresponsible for the senior operations staff of a strategically important space station to also be the command crew of the USS Mary Sue.
I mean I get it, in terms of it being a tv show, but really it should have had a dedicated crew and just have the ship attached to the station.

Honestly O'brien was a MARINE who was legitimately a good tactical kinda guy. He couldn't run a massive space-battleship like enterprise but a fighter like defiant would be perfectly suited to his skills.

Of course attaching it to DS9 was completely arbitrary and stupid except that runabouts were incredibly gay even as shuttle+

I don't know anon, remember that it's prototype engine was so powerful it would tear the ship apart if you pushed it to hard. Considering that it was dispatched to DS9 specifically to defend the most important defensive position in the alpha quadrant, you'd think you could find a top class engineer to permanently assign.
Hell, even before the dominion they were having problems with Cardassians being cardassians. Couldn't starfleet spare a piece of shit miranda class or something just to project some force in the region without being an overt show of force.

It doesn't make no damn sense but then they did eventually put guns and shit on the station instead.

>Closure is endless suffering. I don't know, I hear good things about the Farscape but I never finished it
The ironing.
Grandpa fags like me who were watching the show as it was airing remember very keenly that the network came under new management, and even though the show had recently be renewed for another season or two, they decided to cancel the show.
They didn't tell anyone involved with the show they were pulling the plug until the season finale was ending.
The season finale was the main characters being killed and turned into a pile of crystal.
then: "to be continued"
then: a title card thanking the fans.
Despite it being the highest rated show on their network, they decided to axe it to make some shitty cheap reality shows that no one remembers.
There was a massive campaign from the fans to bring the show back, but it was almost five or six years later before they made a tv-movie called the peacekeeper wars that condensed an entire season into a 3 part mini series. It's kind of meh.
So yeah, watch to the end. Closure won't be your problem with farscape. It still fucking hurts.

O'Brien was fine with the Defiant. His job is replacing broken parts, and the Defiant was constantly accumulating broken parts due to its poor design.

The real problem with the Defiant was the pilot. The DS9 cast didn't have a dedicated navigator, so every time they flew the Defiant, the writers had to pick a driver at random.

The best part is that the crew are all accidental heroes and don't really like eachother that much, but they keep getting into trouble and the only way out is to do the most batshit crazy thing they can think of.
They start off as nobodies, and by the end they're folk heroes in the galaxy for spitting in the face of every major power fighting over the uncharted territories. And all they ever wanted was just to fuck off and be left alone to find their way back home.
In the process they bond and turn from allies of convenience to bro's.
The writers let a lot of the charisma develop between the actors, and then wrote the show around that.

Every season you could feel the producers working their way into a cancellation. Making outrageous demands trying to force it back off the air just because they could. Every single time, Shran saved the day.

>[what we actually got] was pretty mediocre.

This but that doesn't mean it was bad. It was enjoyable if you were a fan of Trek. It pandered to us, yeah sure, but it did it in a way that was faith(of the heart)ful to canon. It made it itself a little better each year as well, but UPN had already scooped 7 years of syndication rights so fuck it if it's ratings are just a little lower, you cost too much.

It was the only Trek from the post TOS era that seemed separate from the others both in production and style.

Pure revisionism. ENTfaggotry on /tv/ started over a year ago due to the endless VOY/DS9 fights dying down. Nobody cares about Discovery.

Look at Earth in Trek. In roughly 100 years after First Contact humanity has come together as a species and went from having a ship that goes warp 1 to ships capable of warp 5 and another hundred years in TOS almost double that speed.

Not that anyone should expect much from an ENT fan but the fact that they use expressions like "meme hate" or have to shitpost the same tired pasta in almost every thread really speaks to the kind of "people" this show appeals

In my experience this thread was the beginning of the end of the kneejerk ENT-hate meme, and it was part of an ongoing process of people realizing it wasn't bad:

ENT was barely mentioned during the VOY-vs-DS9 days except for people who hadn't even seen it ranking it and Archer really low in powerrankings.

He did die though in DS9. There was that episode where he was jumping through time to prevent his death only to end up dying with a version of him from different point in time takes his place. Like Voyager with Not Harry Kim from a parallel timeline, they just hand wave it away as if no one will question it.

I think it's easy to be in the middle when the bar is so low on later treks. Voyager was just so much worse than ENT even when ENT was complete shit. ENT was just completely insane, worst production by far out of all of them. It tried to be so many things at once that it succeeded in none of them. Only a few of the characters redeemed the entire show.

I don't disagree. That would have gone down as one of the all-time great endings.

Why did you like Gaeta's rebellion though? Felt like the order of the fleet was in genuine danger, we see Gaeta's naive idealism totally corrupted, Adama and Tigh get to be badass war dogs and fuck shit up. What's not to like?

If you criticize her, then you criticize the Vulcans in general. They all do that shit.

The cat suit? Yeah I can see that. It's stupid and leaving more to the imagination is a lot to Trekkies. She should have wore a uniform the same as everybody else. The excuse of "Vulcan adviser" was not fitting, or enough.

The thing is, all the cast, actor or actress had to conform to a standard throughout every series to fit into the uniform. Except for William Shatner, actually. I'm pretty sure we wore a girdle after the first season because that cunt couldn't stop eating pigs by the whole or something.

>John Billingsley took a more neutral position. In a 2006 interview, he commented "I wasn't wild about the last episode, but as is often the case I think probably more is made of these things than should be. It, arguably, should have been more about our stories than The Next Generation's cast, and I think people who were a little put out perhaps had a point." He added, "It seemed to me from things that I've read or heard that people's reactions were a little over the top. I also think they were on some level trying to find a way to say goodbye, or at least goodbye for now, to the entire franchise, and to that extent I could understand what the thought process was in wanting to bring in some of the Next Gen characters."
