How did they fuck up the city so bad?
Are they aware the city in the anime looked nothing like this?
>>
>>81257737
one of the things that made me not want to watch it
>>
Yeah, I mean it's "visually striking" and all, but also way too futuristic.
>>
Because the live action's city is a fictional futuristic one while the animated film's city is basically Hong Kong.
>>
Those giant holograms seem like something that could only exist for the benefit of the audience.
>>
Actually I thought they did a good job with the city. You couldn't really tell where you were, it felt futuristic but not TOO unrealistic. There were a lot of practical effects which I found surprising.
>>
>>81257737
great fucking city
>>
>>81257737
Looks like something closer to akira

>thinks billboards and blimps are holograms

I don't remember holograms in BR. There were giant screens. And they made sense since BR has flying cars. Does this movie have flying cars?

And what does this have to to with reddit?
>>
>>81257737
The original was based around shit like Kowloon and 90s era HK. Those things no longer exist to reference so they just made it shitty instead.
>>

>projection

The point isn't the holograms, its the fact that they do not belong in the setting. Also, you accusing others of being from reddit only makes you more obvious. You belong there or facebook, not here.

Because they're hack frauds that don't understand how different films made by different people in different years are actually different. The nĂ¼-GITS city is pretty blatantly supposed to be Akira's Neo-Tokyo. Neon signs, spotlights, giant holograms. Absolutely no relation to the grounded, Kowloon-esque New Port City from GITS.

It's like if a gook watched the LotR trilogy and then the Harry Potter films and made Rohan look like Hogwarts in his "homage".

But all cities rook same!

And just to make it clearer, here's Neo-Tokyo from Akira.

And this is New Port City, from Ghost In The Shell.
>>
People praise the city but I actually think it killed it for me. It felt too artificial. Like when tourists visit North Korea and it looks amazing with all the lights and visuals. However it's empty and just a shell.

The city felt empty when it should have been chaotic like Hong Kong or some heavily populated area.
>>
>>81260192
New Port City did have some incredibly tall areas, but they looked a lot more Blade Runner.
>>
>>81257737
the holograms makes it feel so....small for some reason

It did, but they're also very far removed from what was put in to the new film.
>>
>>81260581
I still don't know how they managed to fuck that shot up in the new movie, when the new movie was using actual cameras and that shot was achieved by faking how a camera works.
>>
>>81257737
they took Akira's city
>>
>>81257737
all around pos movie
>>
>>81258684
Nope they're still on wheels
