I would say so. Most people just missed out the subtle nature of the film. Unlike 2001, which is just pretentious trash, this is honest filmmaking from an honest filmmaker trying to make a living and trying to feed children. Hopefully one day people will grow out of their shells and realize that it was they that cost themselves of the most religious experience ever put on celluloid.

It sort of was thematically jumbled, along with the narrative being pretty meh. There was lots of poorly-done exposition and cliches that sort of keep you from caring all that much about the characters. The inspired visual moments don't really make up for the lack of good storytelling.
