It was a solid 8.5/10 movie. Benecio del toro was easily the best part. The technical aspects were great too and they correlated perfectly with the themes. I don't know why /tv/ hates it so much, it was a solid movie. I've never seen a good criticism of it here, everything is just

>>
>>81231325
I was sad when I heard it was being filmed.
Why does every movie have to explain every characters backstory through countless sequels/prequels etc, Del Toro's character is great because of the ambiguity, it makes no sense to make a sequel (financially it makes sense ofcourse)

It's like someone saw No Country for Old Men and decided to do a Chigurh sequel, what a disgrace.
Atleast Villeneuve kept his artistic integrity and denied working on the Sicario sequel.
>>
>>81231325
It's not being directed by Villeneuve, it's being directed by some nobody who will probably fuck it up. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes Jarhead 2 levels.

She's FBI not DEA. She's a bit of a stooge, yeah, but she's pretty young as an agent. I can't remember the exact dialogue in the scene where she asks about Medellin but my understanding was that she was asking if it was a reference to something, like an operation, rather than not knowing it existed as a place. As far as the plot, it's plausible and largely within the legal framework, stuff dealing with drugs and "narcoterrorism" is like a blank check as long as the appropriate paperwork gets done. I mean there's obviously aspects that are meant for dramatic effect, like the revenge angle, but it's legally feasible for the military and CIA to be involved in something like that. You can go look up the Executive Orders and stuff yourself.

>opinion on Sicario?

- Female lead (even forgot her name) is shit but that's okay because she's mainly a tool for the progression

- very 90s vibe narrative composition (take that as either positive or negative, or both)

- fantastic use of color in some mood setting shots (the biggest strong point IMHO)

- it has the obligatory Inception DUUHUUUN sound, but used in a far better manner and it actually underlines the mood pretty good

- Del Toro is a good actor, although you can see he's pretty burned out at this point, he's still the most interesting character in this film

- Story is super predictable (the fucking title of the movie gives the main twist away, duh...) but it's okay

Overall I reckon it's one of the better movies we had in the last decade. It tries to catch a lot of 90s themes in a modern makeover and succeeds for the most part. Del Toro is the highlight of this film, even though he is super bored at this point in his career. Fuck that replaceable bitch who plays the female lead.

Fun-Note: I honestly wondered how this movie didn't make feminists/SJWs blood boil?

Forgot to add my main point:
If you're young and not really experienced with these type of movies, chances are you will like it. If you were old enough to have seen the whole 90s mafia/crime movies, then you will feel a huge dejavue while watching and may get a bit bored.

Overall solid movie. I give 8/10. Would recommend.

Probably because they saw a female lead and didn't notice she was useless or they just didn't watch it. Also I'm pretty sure the whole point was for Emily Blunt to be useless because she was only there for the loophole.
