Hi /tv/
Anyone interested in a physical collection thread?
Discuss movies we own, are looking for, whatever.
Or just shit on op for having bad taste. I don't mind.
Sorry for the stupid panorama
Alternatively if people just want this to be a Criterion thread, that's fine too.
Okay.
I mean yeah why not.
>>81196865
Oh. Hey. So uh, do you got a pic to post or uh... Idk? I didn't think it'd get this far. I'm sorry.
i wanna get all 3 seasons of superjail on dvd for my collection
>>81196990
Oh shit, I've never heard of this but just looked it up and it seems super cool. Feel like I'm out of the animation loop. Any other recs?
I don't keep the cases; that's for plebs. I have two disc folders. One folder is full, and the other is a quarter full. I don't feel like taking a pic of every page, but I have a solid mix of post-2000 American films, 70s/80s classics, and foreign films on Criterion (only 5 right now - they're expensive).
A quick glance at OPs collection shows only TDK trilogy for capeshit, so I commend you on that. Looks like a mix of blu-ray and dvd, like me.
>>81196983
Hey there. Eh yeah. So hmm maybe tomorrow? Because now I. Want to g-go to s-sleep. Yes tomorrow it is. See ya then.
>>81197078
OP here. I'm sure some people would find you not keeping the cases silly, but I don't care personally. I just like having physical copies of things I care about desu. Which Criterions do you have?
My only other capeshit is Watchmen. I've considered buying Guardians of the Galaxy but I don't care that much.
>>81197171
I mean, you can stick around... Like, uh... Idk you can ask me about a movie or tell me some cool stuff you have? Haha...... I don't know.
>>81197218
Oh well, I mean I'm very tired but I can...stick around for a couple of minures...ahem eh did you know, that 2001 and ACO take place in the same universe yes? Haha.....cool easter egg no? Kubrick films are patrician.
>>81197678
That is neat. I recently watched Eyes Wide Shut and I think it might be my favourite Kubrick movie (though I haven't seen Barry Lyndon or Lolita yet). Have you seen EWS? What do you think of it?
>>81196347
>no how the grinch stole Christmas
>>81197932
I have the Dreamcast game of it, does that count?
First time posting.
>>81199024
Damn. Those Ghibli Blus are spensy, good on ya for grabbing 'em. They look so satisfying and organized, too.
This maybe sounds rude but I'm just genuinely curious, are you not really interested in non-Hollywood films? (other than Ghibli)
>>81199404
>They look so satisfying and organized, too.
That's funny that you say that because my kids terrorize them all constantly. I watch everything and used to collect everything when I was younger and single and retired hundreds of dvd's to the family lake cabin. Hollywood blu rays make for great saturday movie nights on the big screen.
>>81199646
That makes sense/sounds very cozy and cute. I'm just a 22 y/o single dork desu. What are your favourite movies, anon? Also do you have letterboxd?
I'll contriboot OP
I tried organizing them but gave up halfway through
1/3
>>81199787
Thanks anon
Jelly of that Alien Anthology. Keep meaning to grab that. Is it worth it or should I just grab Alien/Aliens and call it a day?
>>81199787
2/3
>>81199838
I would go for the whole thing
You may like Alien 3 Assembly, and the behind the scenes stuff is almost better than watching the movies themselves
pic is over a year old but i don't have a newer one
>>81199899
3/3
>>81199757
A list of my favorite movies is huge and pretty much endless at this point. Starship Troopers, The Mummy and The Fast and the Furious I never seem to get tired of though. I'll watch anything.
>>81199899
Very stoked on your horror collection, you would be fun to watch movies with. What about Funny Games though?
>>81199940
Which criterion is that?
>>81200010
Haven't seen funny games yet, but it's on my list, and the Criterion is Repo Man
>>81199024
yikes
>>81200071
I haven't seen Repo Man. Is it worth it?
You should definitely watch Funny Games.
>>81200086
What's the problem?
>>81199024
>constantly watch patrician movies with sister (Bergman, David Lynch, the list goes on) for years
>sister buys me PIXELS & sincerly thinks I'll enjoy it
>sister buys me unironically some romcom with talking pets & Ryan Reynolds https://youtu.be/3hQpV9Q0A7E
what did she meant by that
>>81200249
jelly.
>>81200157
Repo man is great, one of my favorite Harry Dean Stanton performances
>>81200668
Whoa. I love HDS. Have you seen Cowboys and the Frenchman?
>>81200699
No, unfortunately
It's my mission to watch all of his movies though
>>81200721
It's a silly David Lynch short film and probably the funniest HDS performance.
Paris, Texas is probably my favourite movie of all time though.
>>81200742
Paris, Texas is fantastic, one of my favorites as well even though I don't own it
>>81200986
I really love Wim Wenders in general. Highly recommend Wings of Desire if you like Paris, Texas.
>>81201228
Thanks anon, you seem to be one of the few people on here who actually watches movies
>>81201328
I not only watch 'em, I spend money on 'em. I'm also studying 'em in school, so I'm getting paid to research 'em. It's a living.
ok
pt.1
>>81201684
and 2
also just added arrival on bluray to it.
>>81201684
>>81201732
Very cool collection
>>81201684
I need a few of these in my life. Especially that demo knight and escape from new york. Nice stuff and I'm pretty sure that final chapter is out of print.
>>81201684
ANother collection I'm surprised to see missing Funny Games. You have a bunch of stuff I'm super jealous of though. How's that Zodiac 2 disc?
>>81196347
What the fuck OP how do you have The Third Man criterion? Shit is oop and soooo expensive ;_;
>>81201815
>>81201978
thanks
>>81202013
i saw the american remake a long ass time ago and being kinda ehh about it. I was bored to tears watching a static shot of naomi watts trying to untie herself for 10 minutes.
>>81202258
That's fair, I guess it's not for everybody.
>>81202013
>>81202258
oh ya that zodiac 2 disk is pretty great btw
>>81197078
What the fuck do you do with the booklets? Why are you gonna spend $20-30 on Criterions and throw away the nicely designed packaging and printed materials? Might as well just torrent or stream the movies. "Saving space" is the real pleb behavior, the only other person I know who keeps their movies in a """folder""" is my grandma.
>>81202719
here we go
/mu/ fag trying to integrate
nice knowing we aren't the only board obsessed with owning physical media
>>81199838
The Alien Anthology is worth it for the special features. Alien/Aliens by themselves have no special features, but the Anthology has two discs that cover almost everything from the Laserdiscs, DVDs and also has new retrospective documentaries too. You could spend a week going through all the content the Anthology comes with, and I've seen it on sale for $20 before which is less than Alien/Aliens standalone but 4 more discs.
>>81204860
OP here, I'm primarily a /mu/ guy desu. My records are just on another set of shelves.
I'm going to post my bandcamp just for shits
http://connorjessome.bandcamp.com/
>>81204974
OP you are a fucking retard.
>owning dvds of films that have blu ray releases
its like you are trying really hard to be a stupid pleb
>>81205108
Every DVD I own that isn't a Criterion (actually, including some of the criterions) were purchased for under 5 dollars.
DVDs are fine desu
Bump
What you guys watching tonight?
>>81207449
Solid choice with Nosferatu, haven't seen the other. Any good?
I'm watching Looper right now getting kinda stoked for Rian Johnson's attempt at Star Wars
>>81207505
Year of Living Dangerously is fantastic, one of Peter Wier's most underrated films
Also happens to have my favorite actor and actress in it
>>81207623
Must be tough to have Mel as your favourite actor considering his past 15 years or so.
Sigourney is an angel.
i made a list on letterboxd one very unproductive day
https://letterboxd.com/yellowromeda/list/films-i-own-ongoing/
>>81207873
Hell yeah, I'm really stoked on your collection.
Gave you a follow
>>81207943
thanks man, its a really low res picture, i spent way too long trying to make it and fucked it up anyway
>>81207801
Yeah, when I tell people that Mel is /myguy/ I get weird looks from some people, but whatever
And yes, she is an angel
>>81207985
I can read most of the titles, don't worry.
really jelly of that ratcatcher
>>81208015
wow bless u 4 this
>>81201684
>>81201732
nice collection, I have a lot of those titles but I only really collect horror/exploitation with a focus on 70s/80s and Italian stuff. I would take a picture but I don't think you guys can handle it
>>81207873
